  • Empty trash and recycling bins
  • Dust off and sanitize surfaces like desks, dry erase boards and tables
  • Vacuum carpets and mop floors
  • Clean the windows
  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces like light switches, keyboards and door knobs

The school bathrooms need constant upkeep, even in the summer. With summer school in session, it’s important to ensure everything stays clean. Here are some school bathroom cleaning tasks to stay on top of:

  • Clean and disinfect all toilets
  • Mop and sanitize the floors
  • Empty and sanitize trash cans

  • Sweep and mop the floors
  • Clean out the refrigerator and freezer of old food
  • Empty trash cans and recycling bins
  • Wipe out and sanitize the refrigerator and freezer
  • Clean ovens and microwaves
  • Dust and sanitize any hard surfaces like prep tables and counters

Shutting Down the Kitchen Equipment for Summer

Unless being used for summer school, it’s important to properly shut down all commercial kitchen equipment. Follow the checklist below to shut down the kitchen equipment that won’t be used:

  • Turn the gas supplies off on each unit
  • Unplug any equipment that isn’t being used
  • Leave oven doors cracked open
  • Clean and sanitize the interiors and exteriors of ovens, fridges and more
  • If applicable, shut off water valves on unused equipment
