Notice that your SunTouch floor warming system isn’t working properly? Our guide will help you determine possible causes of the floor not heating the way it should. With these SunTouch floor warming system troubleshooting tips, you can have your system back up and running in no time.

Thermostat Issues

  • Look for error codes – If there is an error code, it could be an issue with a power glitch. Try turning the thermostat off, resetting the circuit breaker and turning the thermostat back on again.
  • Check the settings – Check that the settings are at the correct temperature or are set to the correct mode to ensure everything is working the way it should.
  • Check the connections – Make sure the unit’s connections are firmly connected and not loose.
  • Inspect for debris – Check around the contacts and power base for any dirt or dust that could be causing damage to your warming system.

Problems with the Floor Sensors

  • Check connections – Ensure that there is only one floor sensor connected to the control and make sure the connections aren’t loose.
  • Test the sensor – Disconnect the sensor from the control and test it using a multimeter. If it’s not within range, it needs to be replaced.

Heating Cable Issues

  • Check the cables – Disconnect the power from the thermostat and measure the ohm value of the heating cable. It may be that the open circuit needs to be replaced.
  • Inspect the cables for damage – check for any damage on the heating cable.
  • Check the ground fault – A ground fault can be caused by a nick in the wire or even a loose connection.

Power Supply Issues

  • Test the voltage – Contact a technician so they can use a multimeter to test voltage on the control to ensure it’s sending power to the floor.
  • Test the current – Contact a technician so they can use an AC amp meter to test the current level that’s going to the heating cable.
  • Verify the connections – Check the wiring to ensure nothing is loose or damaged.
