Turbo Air refrigerators are sleek, durable and spacious, so they’re sure to become essential units wherever they’re used. If you want your unit to work properly, these Turbo Air refrigerator cleaning instructions will help you maintain your unit so you can keep it in good working order for as long as possible.

These tips are for models from the M3, PRO and Super Deluxe series, such as the M3R47-2-N, PRO-26-2R-N and TSR-49SD-N6, respectively. If you need more information on caring for your unit, our Turbo Air refrigerator troubleshooting guide is a great resource, too.

Supplies

Don’t use harsh chemicals or abrasive pads when cleaning the unit since doing so can scratch the surface. Also, when cleaning stainless steel surfaces, remember to wipe with the grain to prevent streaking.

Pre-Cleaning Procedure

  • Step 1. Empty the unit - Remove food product from the refrigerator and either place it in another refrigeration unit or discard it.
  • Step 2. Power down the unit - Use the power switch to turn off the unit.
  • Step 3. Unplug the unit - Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet in order to avoid electrical hazards.

Cleaning the Refrigerator

The interior and exterior surfaces should be cleaned at least once every 3 to 4 months and the condenser coils once every 3 months, if not more often. The drain pan should be emptied once every 3 months, too.

  • Step 1. Wash the interior and exterior surfaces - Clean the inside and outside surfaces, including the shelving, with warm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth.
  • Step 2. Rinse the surfaces - Wipe away any remaining food residues, dust particles or soap suds with warm water and a clean cloth.
  • Step 3. Dry the surfaces - Use a clean, soft cloth to dry the interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Step 4. Clean the condenser coils - Use a vacuum, brush or canned air to clean the condenser 3 to 4 times per year and blow out the condenser with pressurized nitrogen 1 or 2 times per year. If your unit is self-cleaning, cleaning the condenser isn’t required.
  • Step 5. Empty the drain pan - Detach the drain pan and empty the condensation about once every 3 months. When returning the drain pan to the unit, be sure the drain hose is placed back into the pan.

Resuming Normal Operation

  • Step 1. Plug in the unit - Restore power to the refrigerator by plugging the power cord into an electrical outlet.
  • Step 2. Power on the unit - Use the power switch to turn the unit on.
  • Step 3. Restock the refrigerator - Reload the unit with food product.
  • Step 4. Resume normal operation - Confirm that the refrigerator is working properly and then use the unit normally.
