TurboChef Tornado Cleaning Instructions

Picture - TurboChef Tornado Cleaning Instructions

The TurboChef Tornado speed oven, known for its ability to cook food quickly without sacrificing moisture or flavor, is a valuable asset in any commercial kitchen. Since proper maintenance of essential equipment is important, these TurboChef Tornado cleaning instructions will help you keep your unit working safely and efficiently for as long as possible.

Supplies

The following cleaning procedure should be completed daily. Only use TurboChef cleaning chemicals to avoid damaging the unit or voiding the warranty. If you’re experiencing performance issues with your oven, refer to our TurboChef Tornado troubleshooting guide for information on possible causes and solutions.

Pre-Cleaning Procedure

  • Step 1. Power down the oven - Turn the unit off by pressing the back key.
  • Step 2. Let the unit cool down - Allow approximately 90 minutes for the oven to cool down to a safe temperature before proceeding. The unit will display “Oven Off/Cooling Down” as the temperature drops, and then “Oven Off” once it has cooled down sufficiently.
  • Step 3. Unplug the unit - Minimize the risk of electric shock by removing the power cord from the electrical outlet before continuing with the cleaning procedure.

Maintain Removable Parts

  • Step 1. Wipe the lower access panel - Remove the lower access panel and use a soft cloth to clean out any crumbs.
  • Step 2. Clean the rack and/or baking stone - Pull out the rack and/or baking stone for cleaning. Maintain the rack by washing, rinsing, sanitizing with oven cleaner and then air drying. For the baking stone, gently scrub it with a nylon scrub pad and then brush away any debris; if the stone gets wet, be sure to let it air dry thoroughly.
  • Step 3. Remove the bottom element - Lift out the bottom element and then set it aside. Although you may wipe the element gently with a clean, dry cloth to remove excess residues, don’t use oven cleaner on the element as this may damage it.

Clean the Interior & Exterior

  • Step 1. Clean out the oven cavity - Use a damp cloth to remove food particles and other residues from the bottom of the unit interior.
  • Step 2. Remove stubborn stains - Spray TurboChef oven cleaner onto difficult-to-remove spots, let the cleaner sit for 5 minutes and then rub the area with a damp cloth. Be sure to not spray an excessive amount into the unit so as not to damage the delicate parts.
  • Step 3. Clean the door and sides - Remove stains on the interior side of the oven door and sides of the cavity with a nylon scrub pad. Remember to not put pressure on the wave guide covers to avoid damaging them.
  • Step 4. Wipe oven interior - Clean the bottom element, interior sides, inside of the door and lower access panel area with a damp cloth to remove any stubborn residues. Avoid spraying cleaner into any openings in the interior since this can damage electrical components.

Resume Normal Operation

  • Step 1. Reinstall removed parts - Return the bottom element, lower access panel, and rack and/or baking stone to the unit.
  • Step 2. Apply oven guard - Spray TurboChef oven guard onto a clean towel and then rub it onto the sides of the cook cavity and the inside of the door. Be careful not to apply oven guard to the nozzle plates or bottom element.
  • Step 3. Clean the exterior - Wipe the unit exterior with a damp cloth to remove dust or other debris, then dry with a soft cloth.
  • Step 4. Plug in the unit - Restore power to the oven by plugging the power cord into the outlet.
  • Step 5. Use the oven normally - You may now resume normal operation of the unit.
