Vollrath Food Table Troubleshooting

Vollrath Food Table Troubleshooting

Malfunctioning food equipment can be frustrating, especially during meal rushes. Having a helpful guide to walk you through troubleshooting can really help cut down on the frustration and hassle. Below we have a Vollrath food table troubleshooting guide that will help with a variety of issues you might run into. That way you can get your hot or cold food tables back up and running in no time.

Food Table Troubleshooting

One Well Not As Hot As Others

  • Thermostat out of calibration - When the unit is cold, turn the thermostat from the off position slowly to full on. There should be a “click” sound at about the second or third position. If the click is heard much later, the thermostats are out of calibration and must be replaced.

Elements Burn Out After Short Time

  • Wrong voltage - Check the voltage and power supply. 208V units are not designed to operate on 240V.
  • Elements not covered in water - Elements must always be covered with water. If the unit is used without water, the elements will burn out prematurely.

Drain Leaking

  • Valve obstructed - Check the valve for any obstructions that block it from closing.
  • Drain adapter cracked - Check the plastic drain adapter where the brass reducer or valve is screwed. Overtightening the drain parts can cause the plastic to crack.

Unit Heats When Thermostat Dial Is Off

  • Unit wired incorrectly - Contact an authorized service technician for more help.
  • Thermostat is damaged - Contact an authorized service technician for replacement.

Unit Doesn’t Get Hot Enough

  • Too much water - 480W units should only have 2QT of water and must be preheated with a cover for 1 hour.
  • Wrong voltage - Check that the voltage and power supply are correct.
