When your York AC unit isn’t working properly, you’ll want to get to the root of the issue and make sure the unit is back up and running in no time. Follow these York air conditioner troubleshooting tips to get your AC running like new.
Air Conditioner is Not Cooling Properly
Having an issue with the unit not working properly is pretty common. Luckily there are a few ways to troubleshoot your AC not cooling the room.
- Check the thermostat
- Check the compressor
- Monitor the unit for air leaks
- Clean the air filters
- Check that the unit isn’t too small for the room
York Air Conditioner Won’t Power On
If there’s a power issue, simply check that the unit is plugged in. If it is, the problem could be with the circuit breaker or with the wiring in the power cord. In this case, replace the cord or have a service technician check the circuit breaker.
AC Unit is Clogged
A clog is another easy fix. Check the exterior of the unit to remove any debris, especially if your unit is exposed to the elements. Also be sure to check the inside for build up of dust, mold and mildew as these can cause clogs in the AC unit.
York Blower Motor Problems
When the York blower motor isn’t working, be sure to check the following to diagnose the issue and avoid damage:
- Check that the fan motor isn’t broken
- Inspect the belt to ensure it isn’t broken
- Check that the unit isn’t overheating from the AC fan motor
