When your unit is down for the count, it’s time to troubleshoot. York furnaces, like most furnaces, can have some issues causing down time. In order to get the unit back up and running properly, you have to have the proper York furnace troubleshooting tips. Learn about those tips with our helpful guide.

York Furnace Ignitor Troubleshooting

If the ignitor on your furnace isn’t working properly, there are a few things you can do in order to troubleshoot the problem. Follow these steps below to get the ignitor working again:

  • Power off the unit and remove the top panel of the unit
  • Remove the screws that hold the ignitor in position
  • Unplug it and pull it out of the unit
  • Check for cracks
  • Check the power source by turning the switch on and checking that the inducer motor starts
  • Place the meter leads into the plug
  • Check the meter readings
  • Check the ohms settings

York Furnace Blower Motor Troubleshooting

Sometimes the issue is the blower motor. If you’re finding the problem is with this component, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Check that the circuit breaker hasn’t tripped
  • Check that the thermostat is at the correct setting
  • Check the furnace filter to make sure it’s clean and clear of debris

York Furnace Gas Valve Troubleshooting

No matter if the issue lies within the gas valve or on the outside, the gas valve will need to be fully replaced if it’s not working like it should. Contact a certified service technician to replace the part for you.
