How to Replace an Elkay Water Station Filter
Video courtesy of our friends at Elkay
The Elkay ezH20 Bottle Filling Station delivers clean water through an innovative design that promotes sustainability and minimizes contact. By allowing users to fill reusable water bottles with a focused stream that minimizes splash, the filling station reduces the need for disposable bottles. To make sure the unit is filtering out as many harmful contaminants as possible, the filter should be replaced at least once a year. For instructions on how to replace an Elkay water station filter, see the guide below.

Installing The Filter
Metal edges may be sharp, so wear cut-resistant gloves and safety glasses.
- Step 1. Remove the lower panel - Remove the 4 screws and then take off the lower cover. Set the cover and the 4 screws aside.
- Step 2. Turn off the water supply to the unit - The shut-off valve is located in the bottom of the unit.
- Step 3. Dispense the water in the bottle filler and bubbler - Turn on the bottle filler and bubbler to release any water remaining in the unit.
- Step 4. Unplug the unit - For safety reasons, be sure to unplug the unit before touching any wiring.
- Step 5. Remove the old filter - Take out the old filter by turning it a ¼ turn clockwise.
- Step 6. Dispose of the old filter - Drain the water from the old filter, then place the used filter in the trash
- Step 7. Install the new filter - Remove the red cap, insert the filter into the filter head, and then turn the filter fully counterclockwise. If the filter is installed properly, the front label should be facing forward.
- Step 8. Plug in unit - Now it is safe to restore power to the unit.
- Step 9. Turn water back on - Now it is safe to restore the unit’s water supply.
- Step 10. Flush out the filter - Turn on the bubbler and run a minimum of 2 gallons through the filter to purge out any air or fine particles. Run water through the bottle filler as well.
- NOTE: It takes about 2 minutes for 2 gallons of water to flow through the filter, so be sure to run the water for at least 2 minutes.
- Step 11. Replace the cover(s) - Replace the bottom cover. If you had to remove the top cover at any point, replace the top cover now, too.
Resetting The Filter Status Light (Old Models Only)
For new models, the filter status light will reset automatically once the new filter is installed. However, for old models, you will have to reset the light manually.
- Step 1. Remove the top cover of the bottle filling station - Unscrew the two torx screws and lift up the cover. Set the cover and screws aside.
- Step 2. Find the program button - This is a small, black button under the top cover of the bottle filling station.
- Step 3. Push the button down for 2 seconds and then release - The display should start scrolling through two messages: RST FLTR and Settings.
- Step 4. When display is on RST FLTR, press the program button again - Now, the display should read FLT=0000
- Step 5. Press the button again - This time, the display should show FLTR =0.
- Step 6. Check for the green LED - When the green LED light is on, the filter monitor has been reset.
- Step 7: Replace the top cover - Use the screws you set aside earlier in the process.
