How to Replace the Jackson Conserver XL-E Fill Solenoid Valve Diaphragm

Supplies Needed:

  • 5/16 socket wrench
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Tongue & groove pliers

Procedure

  • Step 1. Turn the unit off and close the water supply - Power down the unit by switching off the circuit breaker, and close the valve to the water supply line.
  • Step 2. Release the solenoid coil housing - Use the 5/16 socket wrench to release the screw that’s holding the solenoid coil housing in place.
  • Step 3. Remove the valve bonnet - Unscrew and remove the valve bonnet from the valve body assembly. Be careful to not drop the plunger that’s located inside the stem of the valve bonnet.
  • Step 4. Take out the o-ring and old diaphragm cartridge - Remove the o-ring and diaphragm cartridge from the valve body.
  • Step 5. Install the new diaphram cartridge -Place the new diaphragm cartridge into the valve body with the pilot port extension facing up, then set the new o-ring seal into place.
  • Step 6. Reinstall the valve bonnet and solenoid coil housing - Replace the bonnet, making sure the plunger remains in position. Tighten securely. Then, replace the solenoid coil housing.
  • Step 7. Turn the unit on and restore water supply - Restore power at the circuit breaker. Then, open the valve to the water supply line.
