Supplies You’ll Need

How to Adjust the Vinyl Sweep Gasket

  • Step 1. Loosen the screws at the bottom of the door – There are #8 screws holding the retainer in place at the bottom of the door. With a flathead screwdriver, loosen the screws without removing them completely.
  • Step 2. Adjust the sweep gasket as required – Move the vinyl sweep gasket up or down as needed. The gasket should just touch the threshold plate when the door is closed.
    • Note: Do not position the gasket too low, as this will cause the gasket to get caught in the door upon reopening.
  • Step 3. Refasten the screws – With a flathead screwdriver, retighten the screws until they’re securely in place.
  • Step 4. Seal adjustment slots with silicon – Once you’ve finished adjusting the vinyl sweep gasket on your Thermo-Kool walk-in cooler or freezer, you can go ahead and seal the slots with silicon.
