Microwaves are great for quick cooking and reheating. However, a mess can easily begin to build up over time. Everything from sauce spills to baked-on cheeses can cake the unit inside and out. Don’t let the mess stop your unit from running efficiently. Instead try these steps for Amana commercial microwave cleaning to get it looking like new.

The following are applicable to most commercial microwave models such as ACS511TS, AFS518TS, ALD10D, AMSO22 and DFS11E.

Cleaning Instructions

Cleaning should be done daily to keep the unit running efficiently and looking pristine. 

  • Step 1. Soften debris - Boil a cup of water in the unit to help soften any debris in the unit before cleaning.
  • Step 2. Power down the unit - Disconnect all power by unplugging the power cord.
  • Step 3. Remove component - With the unit empty, remove the splatter shield by pressing the front 2 tabs and pulling it down and out.
    • Note: Some models will have back pins to remove the shield.
  • Step 4. Clean out debris - Use a soft cloth to wipe out any loose, large debris from the microwave interior. 
  • Step 5. Clean the interior - Wash the inside of the microwave with a sponge and dish soap.
    • Note: Be mindful of the stirrer while cleaning.
  • Step 6. Rinse the interior - Use a damp cloth to rinse the unit interior and then a separate cloth to dry it. 
  • Step 7. Clean the door frame - Wash the area around where the door touches the microwave, then rinse and dry it with separate cloths. 
  • Step 8. Clean the exterior - Wash the exterior of the microwave with a sponge and dish soap. 
  • Step 9. Rinse the exterior - Use a damp cloth to rinse the exterior and a separate one to dry it off. 
  • Step 10. Clean the controller - Wash the control pad with a sponge and dish soap. 
  • Step 11. Rinse the controller - Use a damp cloth to rinse the controller and a separate one to dry it. 
  • Step 12. Clean the splatter shield - Wash and rinse the splatter shield in a sink, using a sponge and dish soap. 
  • Step 13. Dry the shield - Use a clean, dry cloth to dry off the splatter shield.
  • Step 14. Install component - Reinstall the splatter shield.
