Beverage-Air Horizon Series Gasket Maintenance & Replacement

The tight seal of a refrigerator or freezer door is vital to ensure product stays at the perfect temperature. Otherwise cold air will escape and hot air will creep into the unit. So if you have noticed the refrigerator door just isn’t shutting like it used to, the gasket may need some cleaning. These Beverage-Air Horizon series gasket maintenance and replacement instructions can help you either restore life into the old seal or give it a new one altogether.

Gasket Maintenance

The cleaning of a Beverage-Air Horizon series refrigerator gasket should be part of your routine maintenance schedule.

  • Step 1. Inspect the seal - Check all four sides of the gasket for any rips, tears, stiffness or cracks.
    • Note. Any signs of damages to the gasket means it should be replaced instead of cleaned.
  • Step 2. Wash the gasket - Use a cloth dampened with warm water and mild detergent to clean the gasket.
  • Step 3. Clean up stains - Use a scrub pad soaked in warm water and mild detergent to remove any grease or stains.
  • Step 4. Rinse and dry the gasket - Use a damp cloth to rinse off the gasket and a separate, clean cloth to dry it.

Gasket Replacement

Wear and tear will happen to refrigerator gaskets as time goes on. It’s recommended by Beverage-Air to replace them quarterly or as needed.

  • Step 1. Inspect the seal - Check all four sides of the gasket for any rips, tears, stiffness or cracks.
    • Note. Any signs of damages to the gasket means it should be replaced.
  • Step 2. Peel off the gasket - Remove the old gasket from the refrigerator door.
  • Step 3. Soak the new gasket - Soak the new gasket in warm water for 1-2 minutes.
