Commercial Microwave Cleaning Instructions

There’s nothing like a sauce exploding in the microwave or meat popping grease all over the place. Don’t let any food debris sit in, making it stuck on and a hassle to clean. Below we will walk you through some commercial microwave cleaning instructions, so you can get your unit prepped and ready to warm another product. That way yesterday’s mess won’t get into today’s lunch order. 

Microwave Cleaning

A commercial microwave should be cleaned on a daily basis.

  • Step 1. Boil water - Boil a cup of water in the microwave to soften any debris.
  • Step 2. Unplug unit - Unplug the microwave to prevent any injuries.
  • Step 3. Wipe out debris - Use a soft cloth to wipe out any debris and grime from the inside of the microwave.
  • Step 4. Wash interior - Using dish soap and a sponge, wash the microwave interior. Be careful of the stirrer while cleaning.
  • Step 5. Rinse and dry interior - Rinse the interior with a damp cloth, then use a dry cloth to dry the interior. 
  • Step 6. Wash door area - Wash around the area where the door touches the microwave, then rinse and dry it.
  • Step 7. Wash exterior - Using dish soap and a sponge, wash the exterior of the microwave. 
  • Step 8. Rinse and dry exterior - Rinse the exterior with a damp cloth, then use a dry cloth to dry the exterior.
  • Step 9. Wipe control pad - Use a sponge and dish soap to wash the control pad. 
  • Step 10. Rinse and dry control pad - Use a damp cloth to rinse the control pad, then dry it with a dry cloth.
