How to Clean a Southbend S Series Range

Cooking equipment is bound to get dirty with everything from spills or burnt-on product. After a full day of use, the mess and debris cannot be ignored. It’s vital to address it by scrubbing away the spills so the unit gets back to being sparkling clean. This quick guide and video will help walk you through how to clean a Southbend S Series range so it’ll be shining like new.

Southbend S Series Range Cleaning Instructions

If you aren’t sure how to clean a Southbend range, have no fear. Not only do we have this written guide, but a video to follow along step by step to see exactly what needs to be done. 

  1. Power down the unit - Turn off the oven controls and let the unit cool down before starting to clean it.
  2. Clean the drip trays - Remove the drip trays from the unit and clean them with soapy water and a soft cloth. 
    1. Note: Wrap the drip trays in foil to reduce cleanup
  3. Clean the interior - Open up the oven to clean the interior enamel surfaces with warm water, soap and a sponge.
    1. Note: Dry off the interior surfaces with a soft cloth
  4. Clean off stuck-on grease and food - If you notice any stuck-on grease or food on the unit, clean it off by using a scrub pad.
    1. Note: Don’t use wire brushes, steel scouring pads or other abrasive tools
  5. Clean up under the burners - Clean any spills as needed from the pilot area, air mixer and under the burners with a soft cloth.
    1. Note: Use a wire brush if necessary
  6. Clean the burner grates - Periodically clean the burner grates and burners with soap, water and a scrub pad.
  7. Dry the burner grates - Use a dry, soft cloth to dry off the burner grates
    1. Note: Make sure to season the grates after they’re cleaned
  8. Clean the racks - Clean the oven racks with warm water, soap and a sponge. They can then be dried with a cloth or left out to air dry.
