How to Clean an Antunes Rapid Steamer
Pastas, vegetables, seafood and more can all be cooked to perfection in a steamer. However, these many different products can leave behind a big mess. Rather than allowing that to contaminate the next batch of food, get equipment washed up and looking like new. While it may seem overwhelming to perform all the needed cleaning and preventative maintenance on the unit, it actually can be a breeze with the right guide and video tutorial. How to Clean an Antunes Rapid Steamer Daily
After each work day is through, the steamer needs the following daily cleaning procedure to be performed.
- Step 1. Turn off the unit - Press the power button at the front of the unit to turn it off. The unit will then begin cooling down.
- Step 2. Disconnect the power cord - Unplug the power cord and wait for the unit to fully cool down.
- Step 3. Remove components - While wearing heat resistant-gloves, remove the steam baskets, water pan, basket riser and top cover.
- Step 4. Clean the components - Wash, rinse, sanitize and dry the steam baskets, water pan, basket riser and top cover at a sink.
- Step 5. Clean the exterior - Use a damp cloth to wipe down the unit exterior.
- Step 6. Clean the unit cavity - Use a damp cloth to wipe down the basket cavity.
- Step 7. Reinstall components - Once everything is fully dried, reinstall the steam baskets, water pan and basket riser.
How to Clean an Antunes Rapid Steamer Monthly
In order to keep the unit running efficiently, it requires some additional preventative maintenance every month. This cleaning can be done in combination with the daily cleaning.
- Step 1. Turn off the unit - Press the power button at the front of the unit to turn it off. The unit will then begin cooling down.
- Step 2. Disconnect the power cord - Unplug the power cord and wait for the unit to fully cool down.
- Step 3. Remove components - While wearing heat resistant-gloves, remove the steam baskets, water pan, basket riser, basket liner assembly and top cover.
- Step 4. Clean the components - Wash, rinse, sanitize and dry the removed components at a sink.
- Step 5. Clean the exterior - Use a damp cloth to wipe down the unit exterior.
- Step 6. Clean the unit cavity - Use a damp cloth to wipe down the basket cavity.
- Step 7. Remove the wingnut - Where the top cover was removed, a wingnut should be present that needs to be removed.
- Step 8. Remove generator components - Remove the generator cover assembly, generator basket and diffusers.
- Step 9. Remove mineral deposits - Using an abrasive cleaning brush and a scraper, remove any mineral deposits on the generator surface.
- Step 10. Delime the generator - Pour deliming solution on the generator surface until it is filled and allow it to soak for at least an hour.
- Note. When excessive scale build up is present, let it soak overnight.
- Step 11. Rinse the generator - Turn on the unit and then use a damp cloth to rinse off the deliming solution.
- Step 12. Purge the unit - Press to purge the unit 4-5 times or more if needed.
- Step 13. Season the unit - Use a mixture of 1 cup of warm water and 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda to season the unit.
- Step 14. Reinstall generator components - Reinstall the diffusers, generator basket, generator cover assembly and wingnut.
- Step 15. Reinstall components - Reinstall the steam baskets, water pan, basket liner assembly and basket riser.
How to Clean the Water Strainer on an Antunes Rapid Steamer
Since steaming equipment typically has a water line, some level of maintenance needs to be performed. The Antunes rapid steamer requires the water strainer to be properly cleaned.
- Step 1. Close the water line - Shut off the water supply to the unit by turning the valve to the closed position.
- Step 2. Remove components - Remove both the plastic strainer cup and the mesh strainer screen.
- Step 3. Clean out debris - At a sink, clean out any debris in the cup or screen. Rinse it with water as needed while removing debris.
- Step 4. Reassemble strainer - Reinstall the mesh strainer screen and the cup.
- Step 5. Purge out air - Purge any air in the strainer tubing by disconnecting the male quick disconnect fitting and then reinstalling it.
