How to Clean an Antunes Tortilla Warmer

At the end of the day and sometimes even throughout the shift, your commercial kitchen equipment needs some proper cleaning. Spills and accumulated debris will otherwise leave the unit unsafe for heating up product. In this comprehensive video guide, we’ll go over how to clean an Antunes tortilla warmer so you can do it properly and with the right cleaners and tools.

The following steps are applicable to the TW-100 model.

Supplies

Daily Cleaning

At the end of the day, perform the following cleaning procedure:

  • Step 1. Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds. Then wait for the unit to fully cool down.
  • Step 2. Unplug the unit’s power cord.
  • Step 3. Clean the unit exterior and handle with a damp cloth and dish soap.
  • Step 4. Clean the platens with a damp cloth and dish soap.
  • Step 5. Rinse the platens, unit exterior and handle with a clean, damp cloth.
  • Step 6. Sanitize the platens, unit exterior and handle with quat sanitizing solution.
  • Step 7. Rinse the sanitized surfaces with a clean, damp cloth. Then allow the unit time to air dry.

Cleaning Spills Between Uses

If a major spill occurs, the following should be done to clean it before going to use the tortilla warmer again:

  • Spilled food - Wipe up the mess with a damp cloth.
  • Melted plastic - Use a high temperature plastic spatula to remove the mess.

These methods of cleaning are done while the unit is on and thus heat resistant gloves will be needed.
