How to Clean an APW Wyott Hot Dog Roller

Nothing beats a hot dog during a baseball game or while soaking up the sun during beach day. Before they play ball or you hit the sand, a fresh hot dog on a bun can only be served if the roller is clean and ready to cook. Below we will walk you through how to clean an APW Wyott hot dog roller, ensuring that your unit stays sanitary and clean. Those rollers will be ready to let the dogs out and stay maintained for the long-run.

Daily Periodic Cleaning

These steps should be performed every 3-4 hours throughout the work day.

  • Step 1. Remove food product - Carefully remove any food product from the rollers. You don’t need to turn off the rollers to continue but take care not to burn yourself.
  • Step 2. Wipe down rollers - Wipe the rollers with a clean damp cloth, going from the outside of the rollers to the center.
  • Step 3. Replace product - Place the food product back onto the rollers and continue to cook them as usual.

Full Daily Cleaning

  • Step 1. Heat up unit - Heat the unit up and wait until it is fully heated before continuing.
  • Step 2. Wipe rollers - Fill a wet cloth with ice and wipe down each roller. Make sure to wipe from the end of the roller to the center.
  • Step 3. Dry rollers - Using a dry cloth, wipe down the rollers to dry them. Use the same end to center wiping method.
  • Step 4. Remove and wash drip pan - Remove the drip pan and wash it in a sink with hot, soapy water. Rinse the pan with clean water.
  • Step 5. Reinstall drip pan - Wait for the drip pan to dry then reinstall it back into the unit.
  • Step 6. Turn off unit - If the hot dog roller isn’t going to be used immediately after cleaning, power down the unit.
