How to Clean an Ice-O-Matic UCG Gourmet Series Machine

Dirty ice machines can pose major health risks to customers. It’s vital to ensure the unit is well maintained by following a routine preventative maintenance schedule. If it’s your first time washing your equipment, you’ll want to make sure you’re carefully following instructions to ensure the unit is well cleaned and properly rinsed to keep customers safe. This how-to guide will show you everything you need to know about how to clean an Ice-O-Matic UCG Gourmet series machine.

The instructions are applicable to models from the UCG Gourmet series such as UCG060A, UCG080A, UCG100A and UCG130A.

Cleaning Instructions

The Ice-O-Matic UCG Gourmet series ice machine should be cleaned and sanitized at least once every six months. Never clean the unit more than once per month to avoid damages to it.

  • Step 1. Power down the unit and open the front cover.
    • Note: Remove all ice from the bin before proceeding.
  • Step 2. Remove the curtain, spray platform and retaining cup from the evaporator case.
  • Step 3. Soak the spray platform and curtain in warm water and descaling solution.
    • Note: Rinse thoroughly after soaking.
  • Step 4. Apply sanitizer to the curtain, spray platform and retaining cup with a cloth.
    • Note: Rinse thoroughly after sanitizing. 
  • Step 5. Reinstall the retaining cup, spray platform and curtain.
  • Step 6. Clean the storage bin with a cloth, warm water and mild detergent. 
    • Note: Use a separate damp cloth to rinse the bin after cleaning.
  • Step 7. Use a cloth to apply sanitizer to the bin. 
    • Note: Use a separate damp cloth to rinse the bin after sanitizing.
  • Step 8. Remove the air filter and the front panel from the unit. 
  • Step 9. Clean the condenser by gently brushing up and down over the coil surface.
  • Step 10. At a sink, clean the air filter by rinsing it with warm water.
    • Note: Thoroughly air dry the filter before reinstalling it.
  • Step 11. Reinstall the front panel and air filter.
