Don’t let dirty ice ruin a bartending shift or cause havoc in your commercial kitchen. Keeping ice storage bins clean is the key to hygienic and sanitary ice, so drinks can stay chilled. We will walk you through how to clean & sanitize an Ice-O-Matic storage bin. That way your bin is ready to store ice in safe conditions.

Clean & Sanitize the Storage Bin

It’s recommended that the storage bins should be cleaned and sanitized every 6 months.

  • Step 1. Remove ice - Remove any ice from the bin.
  • Step 2. Turn off unit - For bins with an attached ice machine, turn it off before starting any cleaning or sanitizing procedures.
  • Step 3. Apply sanitizer - Using either a spray bottle or damped cloth, apply the sanitizing solution to the door and bin surfaces.
  • Step 4. Wait for solution - Wait at least 15 minutes for the solution to sit and disinfect the bin.
  • Step 5. Wipe surfaces - Wipe down the bin door and interior surfaces with a clean cloth.
  • Step 6. Rinse surfaces - Rinse the bin door and interior surfaces with either a container of water, hose or damped cloth.
