How to Disconnect & Reconnect a Dormont Gas Hose

Superior quality, outstanding safety and consistent reliability make Dormant gas hoses a top choice for foodservice equipment. Since proper maintenance of these components is key, knowing how to detach and reattach them for cleaning is crucial. If you need instructions, this guide on how to disconnect and reconnect a Dormont gas hose explains the process from start to finish.

Disconnecting the Hose

  • Step 1. Turn off the gas supply either at the manual shutoff valve or the Safety Quik - Stop the gas flow by rotating the manual shutoff valve or Safety Quik valve to the off position.
  • Step 2. Unplug all electrical cords - Cut power to the unit by disconnecting all power cords.
  • Step 3. Pull the unit away from the wall until the restraining cable is taut - Move the machine to create space for cleaning and maintenance. Once the restraining cable is tight with no slack, don't move it any further. Note that once the hose is disconnected, the restraining cable can be unclipped to move the unit even further if needed.
  • Step 4. Disconnect the gas connector from the unit by using either the SnapFast quick disconnect, the standard snap quick disconnect or the Safety Quik - Detach the gas connector using the same mechanism as the original installation.

Reconnecting the Hose

  • Step 1. Reconnect the SnapFast quick disconnect, standard snap quick disconnect or Safety Quik - Reattach the gas connector using the best mechanism considering the original installation.
  • Step 2. Plug in any electrical cords that were unplugged during disconnection - Reconnect the unit to power by plugging in any power cords.
  • Step 3. Turn on the gas supply either at the manual shutoff valve or the Safety Quik - Restore the gas flow by rotating the manual shutoff valve or Safety Quik valve to the on position.
  • Step 4. Push the unit back toward the wall - Move the machine back into its original position and resume normal use.
