How to Measure Dry Ingredients
Measuring cups and spoons are used to measure dry ingredients. Different types of dry ingredients require different measuring methods when it comes to measuring cups and spoons. Some popular ingredients to know the measuring methods are:
- Flour - For measuring flour, you want to scoop the flour with a spoon and pour that into the measuring cup. Once the cup is full, level it off with a straight edge.
- Brown sugar - This ingredient means packing it into the cup, making sure to pack it down until the cup is full.
- Rice/Orzo - These ingredients are easiest to measure by just scooping with the measuring cup or spoon straight in the ingredient container.
How to Measure Wet Ingredients
Measuring cups for wet ingredients are different from dry measuring cups, as they normally have a handy pouring spout on the lip. Some important tips to follow when measuring liquids are:
- Don’t exceed the max measuring line
- Make sure the cup is on a flat surface
- When measuring at eye level, the bottom of where the liquid comes is the measurement
How to Measure Ingredients With a Scale
- Step 1. Grab a container to measure ingredients in and place it on the scale.
- Step 2. Depending on your scale, press the tare or zero button to zero out the weight of the container.
- Step 3. Pour the ingredient into the container until you reach your desired weight.
