How to Use a Vitamix Blender
Creating delicious smoothies is a breeze with high-quality food prep equipment. If you’ve just unboxed a new unit or are new to the business, you may be uncertain on how to use a Vitamix blender. This handy guide will help you blend like a pro and has some simple overloading prevention tips so you can avoid unnecessary break downs.
Vitamix Blender Operation Instructions
- Step 1. Plug in the unit’s power cord.
- Step 2. Add ingredients to the container, starting with liquids, then dry food, leafy greens, fruit and vegetables, ice and frozen ingredients in that order.
- Note: Don’t fill the container more than ⅔ of the way full.
- Step 3. Put the lid on the container, snapping the two tabs into place. Then push the lid plug down and turn clockwise to lock.
- Step 4. Set the speed dial to 1 and flip the Start/Stop switch.
- Step 5. Turn the speed dial left to decrease speed and right to increase as needed.
- Note: If the blender jams during operation, turn off the blender and use the tamper to stir the contents.
- Step 6. Flip the Start/Stop switch to stop blending.
- Step 7. Take the container off the base and use a spatula to pat down the contents so there are no air bubbles around the blades.
- Step 8. Add liquid to help loosen the contents if necessary.
- Step 9. Secure the lid and lid plug and then return the blender to the base to continue blending.
- Step 10. Return the speed dial to setting 1 and flip the Start/Stop switch to Stop.
- Step 11. Wait for the blades to stop spinning and remove the container from the base.
How to Use a Vitamix Blender Tamper
- Step 1. Plug in the unit’s power cord.
- Step 2. Add your ingredients no more than ⅔ of the way full.
- Step 3. Start the blender and adjust the speed as needed.
- Step 4. To begin safely using the tamper, stop the blender.
- Step 5. Remove the lid plug and install the tamper through the opening.
- Note: Don’t remove the entire lid.
- Step 6. Stir the contents with the tamper to break up any jams in the container.
- Note: ASecure the lid plug after using the tamper before resuming blending.
Vitamix Blender Overloading Prevention Tips
- Tip 1. While still learning to use the equipment, only use Vitamix blender recipes.
- Tip 2. Do not blend ingredients at higher or lower speeds or longer than stated in the Vitamix recipes.
- Tip 3. Use the tamper to break up thick mixtures.
