Imperial Gas Griddle Troubleshooting

Unlit pilots, inconsistent surface temperatures and other issues can leave flat top grills inoperable. Rather than have this halt business operations, try a simple fix to remedy the problem. These Imperial gas griddle troubleshooting tips can help you get the unit back up and running so you can get back to flipping burgers, pancakes and more.

Not Working or Heating

  • Unit isn’t plugged in - Inspect the power cord to verify it isn’t damaged. If it’s free of fraying, plug it in.
    • Note: Not all gas models will have a power cord.
  • Gas supply is close or only partially open - Fully open the valve.
  • Temperature dial isn’t properly set - Adjust the knob to the needed setting.
  • Surface temperature is inconsistent or inaccurate and requires thermostat calibration - Contact an authorized service technician to calibrate the thermostat
  • Gas hose has a leak - If you suspect a leak, spray soapy water on all gas hose connections. If bubbles form, the leak is probably at that connection. Contact an authorized service technician to remedy the issue.
  • Back ventilation has a blockage or shelf covering it - Clear away blockages or shelves that are blocking ventilation.
  • Pilot isn’t lit - Light the pilot.
  • Unit isn’t level - Adjust the unit so it sits level on the counter or surface it’s housed on.
  • Gas hose isn’t securely connected - Properly secure the gas hose connection.
  • Circuit breaker is off or tripped - Turn on or reset the circuit breaker.
    • Note: This issue is only applicable to models with a power cord.
  • Product is sticking - Season the griddle surface
