A Good Return Policy Will Drive Return Business

/ Parts Town News & Announcements / May 4

It happens to everyone – you place an order for something you think you need, and then circumstances change on you. Maybe the decision is made to replace the machine you were trying to fix. Maybe your customer finds the item someplace else.

Whatever the case may be, you’re out a chunk of money and stuck with a part you have no use for. What a predicament!

Six-year industry veteran Carol Collazo appreciates the magnitude of the problem. The key, Collazo says, is to have a return policy in place that accommodates these issues.

“A good return policy lets customers know they can keep coming back without any questions asked on returns,” she says.

Parts Town returns manager Laura Hugger highlights the importance of looking out for the needs of customers.

“They should be able to be honest about why they’re returning things,” Hugger says. “You don’t want to get a bunch of bad data because they’re trying to avoid restocking charges.”

A return policy should be sympathetic to the fact that sometimes things just don’t turn out the way you expect.

“When the customer is happy with the way a return is handled, they’ll keep coming back,” Collazo adds.
