Happy Thanksgiving
Parts Town / Parts Town News & Announcements / November 21
For many, Thanksgiving is all about appreciating the good things in our lives. For others it’s about food and football. It can also mark the beginning of the season of giving. Here at Parts Town, we’ve taken that last part to heart.
The spirit of giving comes from the top, and Parts Town’s leadership sets a great example. It began with the team member appreciation turkey giveaway. In appreciation for the hard work done all year, each team member was given a Thanksgiving turkey. Those who chose to do so could donate their turkey to the Addison Township Food Pantry to be given out to those in need of food.
Many of our male team members are giving back in a different way: growing out their facial hair. The month of November is Men’s Health Awareness Month. Nicknamed Movember, it’s all about growing your MO (mustache) and supporting Men’s health. Team members growing out their mustache are entered into a competition to raise money for The Movember Foundation. Each contestant gets a collection bucket for their colleagues to donate money into. All change counts as a positive for their scoring total, and all bills count as a negative, but all of the money raised goes to the charity. For example, if somebody puts $.50 into Ron’s collection bucket and then somebody else throws in a $1.00 bill, Ron is negative $.50 but has raised a total of $1.50 for charity. Bragging rights and a mustache trophy go to the victor, and all the money used to vote (positively and negatively) goes to charity.
Parts Town is also supporting Shelter Inc in buying Christmas gifts for children in and out of the foster system, helping to add a little bit of extra joy and happiness this holiday season. A Christmas tree was set up early in the month filled with ornaments with clothing and or toy items for these needy children. Just after Thanksgiving, Shelter Inc will pick up all the presents donated and prepare them for Christmas.
From all of us at Parts Town, we wish you and yours a very happy Thanksgiving.
