Restaurants Join In The Madness
Parts Town / Foodservice Tips, Restaurant Tips / March 18

March Madness begins in earnest tomorrow. Is your bracket ready?
Whether you’ve got Kentucky coasting to the championship or Northern Iowa sneaking up to seize the title, there’s one thing you can count on during the hoops frenzy – hungry customers.
Many restaurants rise to the occasion with themed activities or contests for their patrons to participate in. City Tap House in Washington DC offers a beer bracket that invites guests to speculate on which beers will sell the most in a given round and then directly influence the results via purchasing. Meanwhile, food bloggers KCFoodGuys have developed a bracket to establish the definitive BBQ joint in Kansas City, and the debate is hot!
Those who haven’t planned a bracket for their customers can rest assured in the knowledge that customers at this time of year are likely to have their minds on their own brackets! Any sports bar, bar and grill, or other establishment with a customer facing TV would be wise to dial in to the games over the next three weeks.
And get the crowd cheering with special promotions! Many establishments are prepared to offer complimentary food should a low-seeded team upset a high seed. It’s a highly unlikely scenario that will have everyone on the edge of their seats.
Doing something different to celebrate the madness? Tell us about it!
