World Records In The Restaurant Industry

/ Foodservice Tips, Restaurant Tips / August 11

This month, world class competitors from around the globe gather to test the limits of the human body and, in many cases, set new records for what it can accomplish.

In honor of their efforts, we’d like to take the opportunity to highlight some impressive record-setters in our own industry:

Noodle Making. The land speed record for noodle making is held by Mr. Hiroshi Kuroda of Japan, who produced a remarkable 65,536 strings in one minute. Kuroda is the executive chef at Nasu Garden Outlet.

Largest Restaurant. The world’s largest restaurant, Damascus Gate, is located in Damascus, Syria. The restaurant seats 6,014 and has a total floor area of over 215277 ft.

Hamburger Lineup. The longest line of hamburgers was assembled in Kuwait City, Kuwait and consisted of burgers from Hardees. Final tally – 2,500 hamburgers.

Marathon Cooking. Endurance chefs Eric Cauwberghs and Benjamin Lefevre, both of Belgium, cooked for 36 hours, 2 minutes and 2 seconds nonstop at the Restaurant Kouterhof in Hoegaarden. Combined, the two men produced over 2134 pounds of food.

Egg Holding. Go ahead and try to beat this one, we can’t fathom it either. In 2009, Zachery George of Parsons, WV, held a whopping 24 eggs in one hand. George, who set his record at a Subway restaurant, was able to keep the eggs aloft for ten seconds.

No doubt, the restaurant industry is full of fun and amazing achievements. Know of one we missed? Let us know in the comments!
