Autofry ventless fryers allow operators to produce fried foods with minimal labor. Although these units are reliable, issues still occur on occasion. If your machine ever tells you that something’s wrong, this guide to Autofry MTI series error codes will help you make sense of what’s going on so you can solve the problem quickly and easily.

This article discusses both pre and post 2008 fault codes for MTI series units, such as the MTI-10.

A05 (Pre 2008)

Temp. Error - Not Ready for 30 Minutes (Post 2008)

Issue

Potential Fixes

Hi Limit is tripped

Press the reset button under the heater

Heater plug connection is damaged 

Clean or replace the heater plugs

Oil is dirty or low

Filter or add/change the oil

A07, A08, PRB (Pre 2008)

Temp. Error - Excessive Change/Open Probe/Temp. Too High (Post 2008)

Issue

Potential Fixes

Oil is low

Change or add oil

Probe plug connection is dirty or damaged

Clean or replace the plugs

Basket is overloaded

Don’t exceed the unit’s capacity

Recovery time is insufficient

Allow the temperature to recover before using the unit again

A04 (Pre 2008)

Basket Motor Error - Could Not Leave / Find Home (Post 2008)

Issue

Potential Fixes

Basket adjustment is improper

Adjust the basket rod

Food is sticking to basket

Replace the basket

Basket cam is loose

Tighten the basket cam

Secondary fuse is blown

Replace the fuse

Product placed in unit too early

Don’t place food product in the unit until the READY light is illuminated

Entry chute is opened before the unit is ready

Don’t open the entry chute until the READY light indicates that the unit is ready

Gear or motorbox is damaged

Contact a technician to remedy the issue

SFT (Pre 2008)

Safety Switch - Front Door/Charcoal Filter/Mesh Filter/Grease Filter (Post 2008)

Issue

Potential Fixes

Front door is open

Close the door

Door gasket is worn

Replace the door gasket

Switch is dirty

Clean the switch

Switch is defective

Replace the switch

Safety Switch - Charcoal/Mesh Filter (Post 2008)

Issue

Potential Fixes

Charcoal or mesh filter isn’t installed

Install the charcoal or mesh filter

Charcoal or mesh filter is damaged

Replace the charcoal or mesh filter

Safety Switch - Filter Cover Plate (Post 2008)

Issue

Potential Fixes

Filter cover plate isn’t tight

Tighten the filter cover plate

Filter cover plate is on backwards

Reinstall filter cover plate properly

Safety Switch - Grease Baffle (Post 2008)

Issue

Grease baffle isn’t installed

Install the grease baffle

Grease baffle is damaged

Replace the grease baffle
