Multiplex Blended Ice Machine Troubleshooting

Display Assembly Troubleshooting
Problem: Display doesn’t turn on
Causes:
- No power to unit
- Unit isn’t connected to power
- I/O board display assembly issue
Solutions:
- Check the power breaker for the unit
- Make sure the unit is plugged in
- Have the I/O board checked by an authorized service agent
Problem: Display turns on but doesn’t respond when touched
Causes:
- Display touchscreen is damaged or faulty
- Display touchscreen is disconnected
- Something is resting against the display
Solutions:
- Have touchscreen repaired or replaced
- Have touchscreen reconnected
- Check that nothing is against the display
Problem: Display can’t update from USB flash drive
Causes:
- Application software is corrupt, wrong format or not on the flash drive
- Flash drive is incompatible
Solutions:
- Make sure the files on the flash drive are correct
- NOTE—In the root directory, make sure you have files “firmware.S19” and “mfscrc.txt” (or “mfscrc” if the extension is hidden) on the flash drive
- Check that the USB you’re using is compatible with your display
Blender and Scale Troubleshooting
Problem: Blender Communication Error
Causes:
- No power to blender control
- Connection issue with blender cable or blender control board
Error Messages:
- Error Message—”Communication Lost With Blender. Reset Power to Machine”
- Error Message—”Lost Connection with Blender—Restart Machine”
Solutions:
- Make sure the blender is connected to power
- Have blender cable and control board inspected, repaired or replaced
Problem: Blender won’t spin
Causes:
- Jammed/stuck blender blades
- Issue with blender container
Solutions:
- Carefully check that the blades rotate and remove any obstructions
- Check that the blender container is shrill good to use
- Make sure there aren’t any obstructions with the blending mechanism
- If needed, follow this diagnosis procedure:
- Step 1—On the startup screen, select [Menu] then [Managers Menu].
- Step 2—Enter the code “89531”.
- Step 3—Select [Test I/O].
- Step 4—Select [Blender Ramp].
- Step 5—If the blender doesn’t work after going through these steps, replace the blender assembly.
Problem: Scale is showing the wrong reading
Causes:
- Scale isn’t calibrated or is out of calibration
- Scale isn’t accurate or faulty
Error Messages:
- “Blend Container Not in Place”
- “Check Blend Container and Pad. Valid Container weight exceeded.”
Solutions:
- If the scale is out of calibration or needs to be calibrated, follow these steps:
- Step 1—On the startup screen, select [Menu] then [Managers Menu].
- Step 2—Enter the code “89531”.
- Step 3—Select [Calibrate Scale].
- Step 4—Follow the directions displayed to calibrate the scale.
- If the scale isn’t accurate, test it by following these steps:
- Step 1—On the startup screen, select [Menu] then [Managers Menu].
- Step 2—Enter the code “89531”.
- Step 3—Select [Test I/O].
- Step 4—Put an empty pitcher on the scale.
- Step 5—Take note of the weight.
- Step 6—Add 8 oz. of water to the pitcher.
- Step 7—Take note of the weight with the water in the pitcher.
- Step 8—Subtract the two weights from one another. The resulting weight should be between 8 oz ± 0.5 oz.
- Step 9—If the weight doesn’t fall within that range, follow the re-calibration steps listed above.
- Step 10—If recalibration doesn’t work, have the scale replaced.
Cooling System Troubleshooting
Problem: Cabinet temperature is too low / product is freezing
Causes:
- Temperature thermistor is faulty
- Compressor isn’t turning off (I/O board)
Solutions:
- Follow the Product/Cabinet thermistor debug instructions in your user manual
- Follow these steps to check the compressor:
- Step 1—On the startup screen, select [Menu] then [Managers Menu].
- Step 2—Enter the code “89531”.
- Step 3—Select [Test I/O].
- Step 4—Make sure the compressor relay is off.
- Step 5—If the compressor is still on, make sure that LED1 on the I/O board is off.
- Step 6—Cycle the compressor relay control on and off a few times. If the relay is good, you will hear an audible “click” sound.
- Step 7—If the LED is cycling on and off but you don’t hear the clicking noise, have the I/O board replaced.
Problem: Product temperature is too high but the cabinet temperature is good
Causes:
- Temperature thermistor is faulty
- Duct fan isn’t operating or is obstructed (I/O board)
Solutions:
- Follow the Product/Cabinet thermistor debug instructions in your user manual
- Make sure the fan isn’t turned off or obstructed by anything
Cabinet/Product Thermistors Troubleshooting
Problem: High/low reading on product or cabinet temperature reading
Cause:
- Temperature thermistor is faulty
Solution:
- Have the thermistor, wiring and I/O board inspected by an authorized service agent
Ice Shaver/Ice Bin Cover
Problem: Ice shaver isn’t activating
Causes:
- Ice bin isn’t in place correctly
- Breaker for ice shaver has tripped
- Motor for ice shaver is broken or faulty
- I/O board is broken or faulty
Error Message:
- “Not Enough Shaved Ice in Container Drink Preparation Paused Fill Ice Bin or Clear Ice Passageway”
Solutions:
- Check that the ice bin lid is on securely
- Check the breaker at the back of the unit to see if it’s been tripped and reset if needed
- Have the ice shaver motor inspected
Problem: Ice bin lid error message appears
Causes:
- Ice bin switch is stuck or faulty
- Poor connection to I/O board
- Issue with I/O board
Error Message:
- “Ice bin lid not in place. Secure ice bin cover to restore operation”
Solutions:
- Use a flathead screwdriver or a flat, dull knife to activate the switch. If it still doesn’t activate, have it inspected by an authorized service agent.
- Have the connection to the I/O board checked
- Have the I/O board checked
Dispenser Troubleshooting
Causes:
- Air line is producing insufficient air, is disconnected or the regulator is faulty
- Solenoid valve is disconnected or faulty
- Obstruction in tubing
Error Messages:
- “Drink making paused”
- “Check Hose at Pump Location”
- “Product dispense fault—Check Product Pump Lines and Nozzle”
Solutions:
- Check that the air line is connected to the air inlet, and that the air regulator is between the manufacturer-recommended psi. If you’re still having issues with the pressure, have the system inspected.
- Have the valve, wiring and I/O board checked by an authorized technician
- Follow the maintenance procedures for cleaning obstructions that are outlined in your user manual
Rinsing and Water Dispenser Troubleshooting
Problem: Blender Container Rinse doesn’t activate
Causes:
- Unit isn’t connected to water or water isn’t turned on
- Blend container isn’t positioned correctly over the rinse mechanism
- Issue with reed switch
- Rinse valve is stuck or broken
- Issue with I/O board
Solutions:
- Make sure the unit is connected to water and that the water is turned on
- Ensure that the blend container is positioned correctly over the rinse mechanism
- Make sure that the reed switch is on and that the blender is positioned properly over the rinse mechanism. If the issue persists, have it checked by an authorized service agent.
- Have the rinse valve checked
- Have the I/O board checked
Problem: Manual water dispenser doesn’t activate
Causes:
- Unit isn’t connected to water or water isn’t turned on
- Water valve is stuck or faulty
- Issue with I/O board
Solutions:
- Make sure the unit is connected to water and that the water is turned on
- Have the water valve inspected
- Have the I/O board checked
