When it comes to brewing world-class coffee, Fetco makes some of the best units for a wide variety of foodservice applications. On rare occasions, you might see an error message pop up on the screen. This guide walks you through Fetco brewer error codes on popular CBS-2031e/s and CBS-2032e/s models, so you can diagnose the issue as soon as possible.
Code 001: Internal Error
This means the system has internal error and had to reload default settings.
- What's the potential problem? A damaged or faulty control board.
- How do you correct the problem? Clear the error by reprogramming the brewer to your custom settings and specifications. If the error keeps popping up, contact an authorized technician to replace the control board.

Code 050: Shorted Temperature Probe
This appears when the temperature probe has shorted.

CBS-2031s / 2032s – Faulty Lock or Sensor
- What's the potential problem? The sensor or lock on the brew basket has failed. If you can pull out the basket during a brewing cycle, this is a sign of the lock failing.
- How do you correct the problem? You'll need to contact an authorized technician to repair or replace the basket's sensor or lock.
- How do you clear the error code? Press the flashing switch on the control panel.
CBS-2031s / 2032s – Loose or Misplaced Magnet
- What's the potential problem? This also can display if the magnet in the brew basket handle is either loose or missing.
- How do you correct the problem? Remove the handle and put the magnet in the correct position. If it continues, you might need to have the basket replaced.
Code 100: Initial Fill Error
This will pop up when the initial fill time is more than 15 minutes long.

Code 102: Unwanted Fill
This happens when the brewer is idle and the fill valve was activated for more than 30 seconds during an hour-long period.
- What's the potential problem? The water supply to the tank has a flow rate that is too low.
- How do you correct the problem? During the brewing cycle, see if there is short potting. Then, check for any clogs. Clogging in the water filter can be a major culprit. Clear the clog accordingly.

Code 200: Flat Line Temperature
This happens when the brewer calls for heat, but there is no rise in at least 2 degrees Fahrenheit within 10 minutes.

Code 201: Heater Open
Like error code 200, code 201 appears when the brewer calls for heat, but there isn't a rise in at least 2 degrees Fahrenheit within 10 minutes. However, in this case, the error is disabled during the brewing cycle and when the hot water faucet is in use.
- What's the potential problem? The heating element has failed.
- How do you correct the problem? Contact an authorized technician to repair or replace the heating element.
- How do you clear the error code? Turn the power switch off and back on.
Code 202: Heater Short
This happens when the brewer isn't calling for heat but the temperature still rises more than 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
- What's the potential problem? It's possible that the triac is stuck in the closed position or there is a bad output on the control board.
- How do you correct the problem? Contact an authorized technician to remedy issues with the triac or control board.
- How do you clear the error code? Enter programming mode. Exit programming mode.
Code 255: Keypad Error
This occurs when a switch was pressed for 45 seconds or more.
