How to Program a Pitco Fryer
Pitco fryers are known for their ability to cook a variety of foods efficiently. In order to help make your unit even more versatile, this guide on how to program a Pitco fryer digital controller explains how to change variables like temperature and cook time quickly and easily.
These instructions are for Solstice and Solstice Supreme models with I-12 digital controllers, such as the SSH75.
Setting Cook Temperature
- Step 1. Enter programming mode - Press the “P” key to start programming the unit. The screen will read “PROGRAM” when the unit is ready.
- Step 2. Access temperature control - Engage the temperature setting by tapping the thermometer key once for single-vat or twice for dual-vat models. The display will show either “SET —F TEMP” if the unit is set to Fahrenheit or “SET —C TEMP” if it’s set to Celsius.
- Step 3. Set the temperature - Use the product keys to enter the desired temperature.
- Step 4. Save the new temperature - Press the “P” key to save the cook temperature.
- Step 5. Exit programming mode - Tap the “P” key again to leave programming mode.
- Step 6. Resume normal operation - When both the left and right screens display the word “READY,” you can use the unit normally.
Changing Cook Time
- Step 1. Access time programming mode - Press the “P” key and then the clock icon in order to engage the proper mode. The words “SELECT PRODUCT” will be displayed on the screen when the unit is ready.
- Step 2. Select the product - Press the desired product key for the product you wish to edit. The display will then read “CKI — TIME” and show the current cook time in minutes.
- Step 3. Set the new time - Use the product keys to enter the desired time.
- Step 4. Save the new cook time - Tap the clock key to save the cook time.
- Step 5. Leave programming mode - Press the “P” key until the display reads “READY,” “HEATING” or “MELT.” Note that you may have to press the “P” key more than once.
- Step 6. Use the unit normal - Once the unit is out of programming mode, you may resume normal operation.
Changing Shake Time
- Step 1. Initiate time programming mode - Press the “P” key and then the clock key to start programming the fryer. Once the words “SELECT PRODUCT” appear on the screen, you may proceed to the next step.
- Step 2. Choose the product - Tap the product key for the product you wish to edit. The display should read “CKI — TIME”.
- Step 3. Access shake time - Press the clock key again in order to engage the shake time setting. The screen will show “SHI — TIME,” indicating the current shake time for that product.
- Step 4. Set the shake time - Use the product keys to enter the desired time.
- Step 5. Save the new shake time - Confirm the new setting by pressing the clock key three times until the screen once again says “SELECT PRODUCT.”
- Step 6. Exit time programming mode - Finish programming by tapping the “P” key until the display reads “READY,” “HEATING” or “MELT.” Note that you may have to press the “P” key more than once.
- Step 7. Resume normal operation - You may now use the unit normally.
Changing Hold Time
- Step 1. Start time programming mode - Push the “P” key and then the clock button to begin programming the machine. The screen will read “SELECT PRODUCT” when the unit is in the proper mode.
- Step 2. Select the product - Press the product key for the product you want to edit. The display will show “CKI — TIME”.
- Step 3. Engage hold time - Tap the clock icon to advance to the hold time setting. The screen will read “HDL — TIME,” displaying the current hold time. Note that you may have to press the clock key more than once.
- Step 4. Set the hold time - Use the product keys to enter the new time.
- Step 5. Confirm the new hold time - Press the clock key twice to save the new hold time. Once the new hold time is set, the words “SELECT PRODUCT” will be displayed on the screen.
- Step 6. Exit time programming mode - Leave time programming mode by tapping the “P” key repeatedly until the display reads “READY,” “HEATING” or “MELT.” Keep in mind that you will have to press the “P” key more than once.
- Step 7. Use the fryer normally - Now you may resume normal operation of the unit.
Changing Hold Pre-Alarm
- Step 1. Enable time programming mode - Press the “P” key and then tap the clock key to begin programming the fryer. The words “SELECT PRODUCT” will be displayed on the screen when the unit enters the correct mode.
- Step 2. Choose the product - Tap the product key for the product you wish to edit. The display will read “CKI — TIME”.
- Step 3. Access the hold pre-alarm - Push the clock icon three times to advance to the hold pre-alarm setting. The screen will display the words “PAI — TIME,” showing the current hold pre-alarm time for that product.
- Step 4. Set the new hold pre-alarm time - Use the product keys to set the new time for the alarm.
- Step 5. Save the new hold pre-alarm time - Tap the clock icon to confirm the new setting. The display will read “SELECT PRODUCT” once the new setting is saved.
- Step 6. Leave time programming mode - Conclude programming the unit by pressing the “P” button repeatedly until the display reads “READY,” “HEATING” or “MELT.” Remember that you will have to press the “P” key more than once.
- Step 7. Use the unit normally - Now you may resume normal operation of the fryer.
