Alliance Laundry Systems Troubleshooting
Laundry day is here but without a working washer, nobody can get their clothes clean. Figuring out what is the problem is the first step to getting washing machines back up and running. Below we will walk you through common Alliance Laundry Systems troubleshooting and what parts to check to ensure that washing machines can get repaired.
The following guide is for the Alliance Laundry Systems commercial topload washers.
Motor is Humming
- Timer needs replacement - Start the washer in either the spin step or agitator step, depending on which it hums during. If the motor doesn’t hum after that, the timer needs to be replaced.
- Motor needs replacement - Start the washer in either the spin step or agitator step, depending on which it hums during. If the motor continues to hum after that, the motor needs to be replaced.
- Brakes need to be checked - If the belt turns clockwise freely, the brakes need to be checked for proper operation.
- Transmission needs to be checked - If the belt turns counterclockwise freely, the transmission needs to be checked for proper operation.
No Hot Water or No Cold Water
- Water supply faucet closed - If you are getting the wrong water temperature, check that the water supply faucet is open and not closed.
- Water supply cold - If the water supply is cold when you want hot water, check that the water heater is working correctly.
- Hose is kinked - If the hose is kinked, straighten the hose or replace it to see if that resolves the issue.
- Hose screen is clogged - Try to disconnect the hose screen and either unclog it or replace it as needed.
- Hot or cold water mixing valve solenoid broken - If either the hot or cold solenoid valve is broken, this could be causing the water temperature issue. Replace the broken valve to resolve the issue.
- Controls not working - Test the control and if it isn’t working replace it.
- Pressure switch not working - Test the pressure switch and if it isn’t working replace the switch.
- Pressure hose is clogged - Check that the pressure hose isn’t clogged. Try unclogging the hose or replacing it to see if that resolves the issue.
Water Fill Does Not Stop
- Pressure switch not working - Test the pressure switch and if it isn’t working replace the switch.
- Pressure hose has leak - If the water fill doesn’t stop, check the pressure hose for any air leaks. Replace the hose if it has a leak.
- Mixing valve isn’t working - The mixing valve malfunctioning or not working will cause the water fill to not stop. Test the valve and replace it if it isn’t working.
- Drain hose too tight - Give an air gap around the drain hose and drain receptacle to ensure that it isn’t too tight and causing water fill problems.
No Agitation
- Control isn’t working - Check that the controls work and if they are broken, replace them as needed.
- Pressure switch not working - Test the pressure switch and if it isn’t working replace the switch.
- Drive belt is broken - A broken drive belt will result in no agitation. Replace the drive belt to get the agitation back.
- Transmission assembly isn’t working - If there is no agitation, check that the transmission is working. If it isn’t, replace the transmission to resolve.
- Pump has a bind - If the pump has a bind it will need to be replaced.
- Lid is open/Lid switch isn’t working - Make sure that the lid is closed and test the lid switch. If the lid switch is broken, replace it to resolve the issue.
Constant Agitation
- Control isn’t working - Check that the controls work and if they are broken, replace them as needed.
- Transmission assembly isn’t working - If there is no agitation, check that the transmission is working. If it isn’t, replace the transmission to resolve.
Outer Tub Does Not Empty
- Drain hose is kinked - If the hose is kinked, straighten the hose to see if that resolves the issue.
- Drain hose isn’t in retainer clip - Make sure that the drain hose is installed into the hose retainer clip.
- Water pump is broken - Replace the water pump if it has been broken and cause the tub to not empty.
- Outlet hose is blocked - A blocked outlet hose will cause the tub to not empty. Clear the clog or blockage to resolve this issue.
Excessive Vibration
- Tub is unbalanced - An unbalanced tub will cause excessive vibration while the machine runs. Check that laundry is balanced and the tub isn’t overfilled.
- Module spring is broken or disconnected - Any broken or disconnected modules will cause the machine to vibrate. Replace or tighten any module springs as needed.
- Machine is not level - If the machine is not level on a flat flooring, it will become unbalanced and vibrate excessively. Adjust the feet so that the machine is level on the floor.
- Cabinet screws are loose - Tighten any cabinet screws to make sure they aren’t causing the vibration.
- Base is damaged - If the washer was dropped or the base is damaged, the base assembly needs to be replaced.
- Friction ring is broken - A broken friction ring means the machine vibrates too much. Replace the friction ring immediately to resolve the issue.
Water Leaking From Outer Tub
- Water seal is leaking - Check to see if the water seal is leaking. If it has any cracks or leaks then it will need to be replaced.
- Outer tub has hole - Look at the outer tub and check for any holes. Replace the outer tub if there are any holes.
- Pressure hose or accumulator leaking - Make sure that the pressure hose or accumulator isn’t causing the leaks. If either are causing the leaks, they most likely are broken and need to be replaced.
- Outer tub cover gasket is leaking - If the gasket is worn or broken, it will need to be replaced to stop the tub from leaking.
- Drain is clogged - A clogged drain will cause water to come out over the top of the outer tub cover.
- Clamp is leaking - The tub might be leaking if the clamp is not tightened. Try tightening the clamp to see if that stops the leak.
