Biozone Scientific ICEZONE Bulb Replacement Instructions
The Biozone Scientific ICEZONE is an invaluable piece of equipment in your commercial kitchen or healthcare facility. The ICEZONE works to keep ice sanitary without the use of chemicals; rather, it utilizes UV light to eliminate bacteria growth and buildup. Because of the important role the ICEZONE plays in your commercial kitchen, regularly replacing and cleaning the bulb (also known as the “lamp”) is a vital preventative maintenance task. If it’s time to replace your Biozone Scientific ICEZONE bulb, follow the instructions below to do it properly and safely.
How to Replace an ICEZONE Bulb
According to OEM recommendations, a Biozone PhotoplasmaTM bulb should be replaced every 9,000 hours, or once annually.
- Step 1—Turn off the power supply to the unit.
- Step 2—Let the bulb cool for at least 10 minutes.
- Step 3—Remove the service cover.
- Step 4—Unplug the connector from the bulb.
- Step 5—Remove the bulb from the lamp clips.
- Step 6—If you are removing the bulb to clean it, wipe down the glass surface carefully with isopropyl alcohol. If you are replacing the bulb completely, discard according to local hazardous waste disposal laws.
- NOTE—Only handle Biozone bulbs while wearing gloves. If the glass is touched by bare hands, clean the surface with alcohol.
- Step 7—Place either the cleaned bulb or the new one in the lamp clips.
- Step 8—Plug the connector into the bulb.
- Step 9—Reinstall the service cover.
- Step 10—Turn the power supply back on for the unit.
- Step 11—Reset the bulb life counter (also known as the lamp life counter) with the reset tool. The reset hole is located at the center of the LED Indicator Status ring, and can be reset using either the reset tool or a paper clip.
