When you finish loading up your commercial refrigerator, you expect it to keep all products cold. Typically you can always trust your Continental Refrigeration equipment to do just that. However, on the off chance a unit isn’t working and needs repair, you need the right guide to help you get it running again. Thankfully, Parts Town is here with these troubleshooting tips, so you can get your refrigerator and freezer running again fast.

Continental Refrigerator or Freezer Not Cooling or Freezing

There are a few reasons this issue can happen. Whether it’s power related or settings related, try these steps to fix it:

  • Blown fuse - If your circuit breaker has blown a fuse, then reset the breaker.
  • Unit not plugged in - It’s possible the unit doesn’t have power to cool due to the power supply cord not being plugged in. Check the outlet and plug in the unit.
  • Temperature setting is incorrect - The temperature controller is where you set the unit’s temperature. It’s possible it has been set incorrectly and just needs to be adjusted.
  • Unit is too close to hot side equipment - If the unit is too close to cooking equipment like ovens and fryers, it’ll influence the temperature. Make sure your cold side is properly separated from hot side equipment.
  • Dirty condenser coil - The condenser coil needs to be regularly cleaned  to keep your unit running properly. Be sure to clean it if you notice the unit isn’t cooling or freezing.

Continental Refrigerator or Freezer Door Not Closing Properly

When the door to a refrigerator doesn’t close all the way, cool air escapes, and it won’t keep the product at the right temperature. Here’s why that might happen:

  • Gasket is dirty - A dirty gasket can’t create a perfect seal, allowing cool air to escape through the refrigerator’s door. Be sure to clean your refrigerator door gasket regularly.
  • Gasket is damaged - When a door gasket is damaged, it needs to be replaced, or the door won’t close properly.
  • Product is in the way - If there’s too much product or product is keeping the door from closing, you’ll need to rearrange it.

Water Leak Inside a Continental Refrigerator or Freezer

Your refrigerator isn’t supposed to have a water leak. If you find water pooling up inside the refrigerator, here’s what could be the cause:

  • Condensate drain pan wasn’t installed properly - Contact an authorized technician or consult your manual for proper installation steps.
  • Unit isn’t level - Use a level to check that the unit is sitting level with  the floor. If it’s not, contact an authorized service technician.
  • Drain pan is misaligned - Realign the drain pan properly.
  • The drain pan is defective - Contact an authorized technician to have it replaced.

Continental Refrigerator or Freezer is Noisy

Some noises can be normal on commercial kitchen equipment. However, if you find your unit is making an unusual sound, these could be the reasons:

  • Loose parts or mounting - Tighten the mounting brackets or screws or contact an authorized service technician.
  • Bent fan blades - Contact an authorized technician to replace the fan blade.
  • Fan bearings are worn - Have an authorized technician replace the fan bearings.
