Finding Your Scotsman Model Number

Below is a quick video showing where the machine and bin model numbers are located on a Scotsman unit.

How to Read a Scotsman Model Number

While they might seem like a bunch of random numbers and letters, the model number on a Scotsman ice machine can offer a lot of information about your specific unit. The different types of numbers and letters explain various specifications and details about your machine. Here is a quick breakdown of a potential model-number sequence:

  • Type of machine – Every number starts with a single- or multi-letter prefix that explains the type of unit. For instance, “C” stands for cuber while the letters “FM” stand for flaker
  • Ice capacity or relative size – These numbers will show either the machine’s ice capacity in 100s of pounds or the relative size.
  • Cabinet width – The number indicates the width of the unit’s cabinet in inches.
  • Cube size – Cube size is specified by a letter. The letter “S” stands for small or half-diced cubes while “M” stands for medium or full-diced cubes.
  • Condition type – Each model cools in different conditions, and the model number uses a letter or two to describe it. For example, “A” means air cooled, “W” means water cooled and “RL” means remote low-side cooling.
  • Electrical suffix code – The suffix designates the amount or range of volts a machine can operate off of.
  • Series revision code – Some units will have a letter at the end of the model number designating the series revision. For instance, the letter “A” would indicate the first series in the model while “C” would specify the third series.

Now, let’s apply this to model C0630MA-32A as an example:

  • C – Cuber machine
  • 06 – 600-pound ice capacity
  • 30 – 30-inch cabinet width
  • M – Medium cube size
  • A – Air-cooled machine
  • -32 – Suffix code indicates unit operation between 208-230 volts
  • A – First series of the model
