Frigidaire dishwashers are made to get your dishes sparkling clean every time. While they typically run smooth, you may run into issues that need a quick fix. Thankfully this guide can help you walk through some Frigidaire dishwasher troubleshooting and even error codes you could see. That way you can get back to making those dishes shine.
This guide applies to a variety of Frigidaire dishwasher models such as the Gallery series, Professional series or specifically the ffcd2413us unit.
Frigidaire Dishwasher Not Draining
You may notice water in the bottom of the unit after the cycle is done. This is because the unit isn’t draining properly. Here are some possible reasons and solutions for when this happens:
- A connected disposer has a blockage - If your unit is hooked up to a food waste disposer than it’s possible this is the cause and you need to ensure it’s clear of debris.
- The drain hose is kinked - Check the drain hose for a possible kink. It may just need to be straightened out or if it’s damaged contact an authorized technician to replace it.
- The cycle hasn’t completed - It’s possible the cycle hasn’t completed and is just paused. Be sure to double check this and allow the cycle to finish.
- The glass trap is clogged - Check the glass trapped has been maintained and isn’t clogged. If it needs to be cleaned, consult the care and cleaning section of your unit’s manual to resolve it.
Frigidaire Dishwasher Not Starting
You may have just finished loading up the dishwasher only to realize now it’s not starting. This doesn’t have to stop you though from getting dishes clean. Try these troubleshooting tips to get it up and running again.
- The circuit breaker is tripped - Check the circuit breaker. If it’s tripped then reset it.
- Start hasn’t been pressed - It’s possible that the start button wasn’t pressed. Try pressing it to see if that gets it to start.
- The door is ajar - If the door doesn’t latch shut then it won’t start. Make sure to fully close the door and hear it latch shut.
- The water supply isn’t on - Check if the water supply is on, if it’s not turn it on.
Frigidaire Dishwasher Not Cleaning
After the cycle completes you may notice that the dishes aren’t even clean. This can be super frustrating but, this guide can fix that.
- A longer cycle time is needed - Some food messes just need more time to clean than others. Try using a different cycle with a longer washing time.
- Dishes were loaded improperly - It’s actually really important to load your dishwasher strategically so everything gets clean. Be sure to avoid nesting items or overloading and that dishes are loaded on the proper rack.
- Water pressure or temperature is too low - Consult with an authorized technician about the incoming water temperature or home water pressure to ensure it’s the correct levels for your dishwasher.
- Extremely hard water - If you have hard water it won’t get your dishes clean. You may need to explore having a water softener installed.
- The detergent is old - Using old detergent won’t get the dishes clean. Check how old your detergent is and replace it with a fresh batch if needed.
- Spray arms are blocked - Check the spray arms for blockages. Be sure to clear them so they can properly clean your dishes.
Frigidaire Dishwasher Not Drying
Your dishwasher should also get your dishes dry after the wash portion of the cycle is finished. If the dishwasher is leaving you with wet dishes then try these steps to troubleshoot it.
- Dishes with concave surfaces were put face up - Be sure to put things like bowls, pots, cups and other concave dishes with the concave facing down. Otherwise water will collect in them and they will not dry.
- Plastic items may need a towel - Plastic dishes may need extra work to get dry even with a working dishwasher. Lay them out to air dry or wipe them dry with a rag.
- Dishes were loaded improperly - Be sure to avoid nesting items or overloading and that dishes are loaded on the proper rack.
- Water temperature is too low - Consult with an authorized technician about the incoming water temperature to ensure it’s the correct level for your dishwasher.
- The discharge setting on the rinse aid is too low - Increase the discharge setting to correct this.
- The rinse aid dispenser is empty or not filled enough - Fill up the rinse aid dispenser.
- The drying option hasn’t been selected - Selecting this may have been missed. So be sure to check that the heat or other dry options have been selected and allow the unit to dry the dishes.
Frigidaire Dishwasher is Leaking
You definitely want to be sure the water is staying inside the dishwasher and not leaking out. If this happens, there’s a few ways to remedy it.
- The door gasket is damaged or dirty - With extended use the gasket on the dishwasher door can get worn or dirty. Be sure to clean it regularly and inspect it for damage to determine if the gasket needs to be replaced.
- Rinse aid was spilled - If you spill rinse aid inside then it could cause foam and overflowing. Be sure to wipe up the spill right away with a damp rag.
- The dishwasher isn’t level - This may be an issue with how your dishwasher was installed or if the floor under it has warped. Be sure to consult with an authorized technician to have this remedied.
- Too much detergent is used - Overloading the detergent won’t get the dishes cleaner. It can however cause oversudsing and thus leaking. Try reducing how much detergent is being used to avoid this.
Frigidaire Dishwasher Touchpad is Not Working
When the touchpad on your dishwasher stops working it can make it very difficult to operate your unit. Hopefully these troubleshooting tips will help you resolve it.
- The board is defective or malfunction - The control board or touch pad may just need to be replaced. Be sure to consult an authorized technician to replace it for you.
- The panel may need a reset - Sometimes appliances need to be reset if they start to act up. Consult your manual for your unit for specific steps to reset the control panel.

- Dirty dishes were left in the dishwasher for too long - If you let soiled dishes sit inside for too long they can create an odor. Try running a rinse cycle to help eliminate it.

- The unit isn’t draining properly - Standing water can also create an odor in your dishwasher. Be sure to check for water in the bottom of the dishwasher and consult the not draining section of this guide.
- The unit is new - Just like new cars, new appliances have a special smell. It’ll go away in time.
Frigidaire Dishwasher Not Filling With Water
During the wash cycle, spray arms with dispense water to properly clean your dishes. If you notice it isn’t filling with water to spray then you need these tips to fix it.
- The water supply is off - Check that your water supply is on. If it’s off, turn it on.
- The overfill protector is jammed - The overfill detector is meant to keep your dishwasher from overflowing and thus leaking. If it’s jammed it may prevent water from filling. Check that it can move freely.
Frigidaire Dishwasher Door Won't Close
Not being able to close a dishwasher door will prevent it from running due to safety features. There’s definitely easy ways to remedy it though.
- The gasket is damaged or dirty - With frequent use, your dishwasher’s gasket can get dirty or worn out. Be sure to clean off the gasket and replace it when it gets torn so your dishwasher can shut and seal fully.
- The rack or dishes are blocking the door - If dishes or racks are not securely in the dishwasher they could block the door from shutting. Check and rearrange these items as needed to shut the door.
