Glastender Temperature Control Adjustment

Glastender logo - Glastender temperature control adjustment

Glastender temperature control adjustment is extremely simple and just as necessary to maintain the optimal environment for your food and beverages. There are several reasons why you would need to adjust the settings on your thermostat. For example, the cooler might be placed too close to a fryer or oven, or maybe there is a need to compensate for changing weather patterns. Whatever the reason, this guide will tell you how to adjust the temperature settings on your Glastender coolers.

Glastender uses two types of digital controllers in their coolers: Dixell and TC-900. Most Glastender coolers use a Dixell controller. However, certain models use a TC-900, so instructions on how to set the temperature in both types of controllers are included in the sections below.

Temperature Ranges

Knowing the optimal temperature range for your cooler will help you understand how best to care for the food and beverages within. To see which range your model of cooler falls under, take a peek at this guide:

  • MFV - comes preset at a temperature of 10℉ with an operating range of 10℉ to 18℉
  • Standard Cooler Setting - comes preset at a temperature of 34℉ with an operating range of 34℉ to 39℉
  • B=Beer - comes preset at a temperature of 34℉ with an operating range of 34℉ to 39℉
  • W=White Wine - comes preset at a temperature of 50℉ with an operating range of 50℉ to 55℉
  • R=Red Wine - comes preset at a temperature of 60℉ with an operating range of 60℉ to 65℉

Note: If you’re wondering why you can’t set the temperature on your cooler past an upper or lower limit, it’s because your specific model of cooler operates within a set temperature range.

How Do I Set the Temperature on My Dixell Controller?

In this section, you’ll learn how to see and change the current temperature of your unit as well as how to navigate between the settings.

  • Seeing the current temperature setting - To see what temperature the cooler is presently holding at, quickly push the “set” button. The temperature in Fahrenheit will display on the screen.
  • Returning to the main screen - To return to the main screen quickly push the “set” button again. After five seconds, the original screen will reappear.
  • Changing the temperature - Press the “set” button in the bottom left-hand corner of the display for at least two full seconds. Once the ℉ or ℃ symbol begins flashing, you can increase or decrease the temperature by toggling the up and down arrows.
  • Saving the new temperature - To save the new set point and return to the temperature display mode, press the “set” button in the bottom left-hand corner.

Note: The unit will automatically save any changes you make after ten seconds, even without pressing the “set” button. You’ll want to double-check that any temperature adjustments you make are within the desired range.

How Do You Change a Dixell Controller from Fahrenheit to Celsius?

To change the parameter values on your Dixell controller from Fahrenheit to Celsius or from Celsius to Fahrenheit, here’s what you need to do:

Press the manual defrost button in the upper right-hand corner for a total of five seconds. To change it back, repeat the process. Yep, that’s all you have to do. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Note: If you change the measurement unit from Fahrenheit to Celsius or vice versa, you have to double-check that the values of these parameters are correct: Hy (Differential), LS (Minimum set point), US (Maximum set point), oE (Second probe calibration), o1, AU (Maximum temperature alarm), and AL (Minimum temperature alarm).

This brings us to our next question:

How Do You Set the Parameters on a Dixell Controller?

Here’s how you change the parameter’s on the Dixell thermostat in four easy-peasy steps:

  • Step 1. Enter programming mode - To do this, press the “set” button and the down arrow at the same time for a total of three seconds or until the ℃ or ℉ symbols start flashing.
  • Step 2. Select the desired parameter - Toggle through the parameters using the up and down arrows. Once you find the desired parameter, press the “set” button.
  • Step 3. Change the parameter’s value - Use the up and down arrows to change the value of the parameter. Once satisfied, press the “set” button. You can continue changing the parameter values by repeating this process.
  • Step 4. Save the new parameter value - Once you’ve finished, you can exit by pressing the “set” button and the up arrow at the same time or wait 15 seconds without pressing a key.

How Do I Set the Temperature on My TC-900?

Setting the temperature on a TC-900 controller is as easy as pressing a few buttons. Ready to find out how? The section below will tell you all you need to know.

  • Seeing the current temperature - Press the “set” button in the bottom left-hand corner for a total of two seconds. You’ll see the letters “SP” appear before you will see the current temperature display.
  • Changing the current temperature - After you see the current temperature display on the screen, toggle the up or down arrows until you’ve selected the desired temperature.
  • Setting the new temperature - Once you’ve entered the new temperature, you can save this by pressing the “set” button. Immediately afterward, you will see the letters “SP-E” (the economy setting) appear on the screen. Use the up and down arrows to navigate to your economic temperature (it can be the same as the previous temperature you entered). Once finished, press the “set” button again. Dashes will appear on the screen, but don’t panic! This is just the machine’s way of letting you know it’s all set and ready to go.

Note: You can also change the temperature and economic temperature settings individually by pressing the Quick Access Menu Key, which is the upper right-hand button.
