But when you start noticing certain issues and signs of a problem arise with the unit, it’s time to get it checked out. This troubleshooting guide focuses on the Grindmaster 3311 frozen drink machine.

Machine Won’t Run or Freeze Down

Causes

Solutions

Machine isn’t plugged in

Check that machine is plugged in

Circuit breaker has tripped or a fuse has blown

Reset the breaker or replace fuse

Machine is in the CLEAN or OFF position

Turn on the machine

Air flow to condenser is obstructed (air-cooled units only)

Have condenser cleaned. Ensure the machine has 6-inch clearance on both sides

Compressor isn’t operating

Have the machine inspected and repaired by an authorized technician

Dasher isn’t installed

Have dasher (ayger) installed by an authorized technician

Low refrigerant charge

Have authorized technician check unit for leaks, repair and recharge refrigerant

Product is Too Soft

Causes

Solutions

Consistency setting is too loose

Consistency control needs to be readjusted

Consistency setting is at the maximum (red spring)

Have consistency spring changed to a proper one

BRIX product level is too high

Lower the liquid BRIX level

Too much alcohol in the mix

Lower the alcohol content

Product Won’t Dispense

Causes

Solutions

Power switch is in OFF position

Turn the switch to ON position

Inadequate mix in hopper. Red MIX LOW light is on

Refill the hopper

Consistency adjuster is set too firm

Readjust consistency setting

Carburetor inlet hole is clogged

Have the carburetor serviced

Drive belt is broken or off the pulley

Have drive belt repaired or replaced by an authorized technician

Drive shaft is worn

Have drive shaft replaced by an authorized technician

Drive motor failure

Have motor replaced by an authorized technician

Leaking from Drain Tube, Above the Drip Tray or Dispensing Valve

Leak Source

Drain tube and/or front of the freezer above the drip tray

Worn or defective shaft seal

Have seal replaced and regularly lubricated

Drain tube and/or front of the freezer above the drip tray

Seal was installed incorrectly

Have seal reinstalled

Dispensing valve

Defective or worn o-ring(s)

Have o-ring(s) replaced and well-lubricated

Making Sounds

Clicking inside the machine

Low voltage

Call an authorized technician

Clicking inside the machine

An extension cord is being used

Connect the machine directly to a power source or use a proper power cord

Thumping inside the machine

Worn belt

Have the belt replaced by an authorized technician

Scraping during freeze down

Frozen product is scraping off of cylinder walls

Sound should go away once product is frozen to the proper consistency

Fill machine with product

Premature Seal Wear

Causes    Solutions

Improper installation of dasher

Have dasher inspected and reinstalled by an authorized technician, if necessary

Improper drive shaft clearance

Have drive shaft adjusted by an authorized technician

Improper shaft alignment

Have shaft realigned by an authorized technician

Merchandiser Light Flickers When Freezer Cycles

Causes Solutions

Not fully plugged in

Make sure the power cord is plugged in all the way into the outlet

Low voltage

Call an authorized service technician to connect the freezer needs to a dedicated circuit
