Hatco Toaster Cleaning

When a commercial kitchen needs to toast bread and bagels a Hatco toaster is the right appliance for the job. Using this frequently in kitchens means that over time there will be crumbs, dirt and debris that require cleaning to maintain your machine. To keep your machine working properly we have a guide on Hatco toaster cleaning that will make it easy for you to get maintenance done. We include essential information from daily cleaning to specialized parts cleaning.

The following Hatco toaster cleaning tips are for Hatco Toast-Qwik® models like TQ-10, TQ-400, TQ-800,TQ-1200 and TQ-1800 Series.

Cleaning the Bottom Element Reflector

Cleaning the reflector doesn’t need to be done daily, but make sure to check it frequently for build-up.

  • Step 1. Shutdown the unit  - Turn the toaster off and unplug it from any power source. Allow the unit to cool down before continuing.
  • Step 2. Clear off the reflectors - Using a bristle brush, wipe to each side of the reflectors through the conveyor belt. This will remove any crumbs that did not fall off during use.
  • Step 3. Continue with daily cleaning - Continue with the daily cleaning procedures to then clean out the crumbs from the crumb tray.

Daily Cleaning

Always use non-abrasive cleaners and clothes to prevent scratches or damage to the toaster.

  • Step 1. Shutdown the unit  - Turn the toaster off and unplug it from any power source. Allow the unit to cool down before continuing.
  • Step 2. Remove the crumb tray and toast pan - Remove the crumb tray and the toast collector pan from the machine.
  • Step 3. Wash the tray and pan - Wash the crumb tray and collector pan using a mild detergent and warm, soapy water. Rinse the parts with clean water and allow them to air dry. If you need them quickly, use a soft cloth to dry them. Reinsert the tray and pan once they are dry.
  • Step 4. Wipe down the exterior - Using a non-abrasive soft cloth, wipe down the exterior of the toaster. For tougher stains, you can use a stainless steel cleaner to remove them.
  • Step 5. Check the cooling fan vents - Check the cooling fan vents for any excess debris or build-up. Use a gentle vacuum cleaner to clear the vents if you find that they are blocked.

Cleaning the Toast Feed Ramps

  • Step 1. Shutdown the unit  - Turn the toaster off and unplug it from any power source. Allow the unit to cool down before continuing.
  • Step 2. Remove the toast ramp - Press  the two wire spokes and lift to remove the  toast feed ramp.
  • Step 3. Wipe down the ramp - Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the ramp. For tougher stains or build-up, soak the ramp in a solution of 1 cup (227 mL) ammonia and 1 gallon (3.785 L) of water.
  • Step 4. Reinstall the ramp - Align the wire spokes with the holes in the toaster to reinstall the toast feed ramp.
