Jade Range Troubleshooting

Following a recipe typically involves the assumption that it will yield the same result every time. However, this won’t be the case if your Jade range is not working as intended. If you’ve opened the oven door an hour later only to find your potato al gratin is soupy and the cheese still unmelted, you might have a broken Jade range on your hands.

But not to worry, a  Jade range that is not lighting or unevenly or overcooking foods often have simple solutions. Jade Range Troubleshooting: Not Heating

Oven Not Holding Temperature 

Cause 

Solution


The thermostat is uncalibrated


Calibrate the thermostat


The bypass flame is too strong/weak


Temper the bypass flame


The oven door is not closed all the way


Close the door and check for interference

Oven Slow to Heat Up

Cause

Solution


The orifice is the wrong size


Double check the orifice is the correct size. If not, replace it


The gas pressure is too low


Test the gas pressure and ensure the supply pipe is the right size


The pressure regulator vent is blocked


Clear the blockage or replace the vent


Oven door is not closed all the way


Close the door and check for interference

Oven Won't Reach Temperature

Cause

Solution


The orifice is the wrong size


Double check the orifice is the correct size. If not, replace it


The bypass flame is too weak


Temper the bypass flame


The gas pressure is too low


Check the gas pressure and make the necessary adjustments 


The pressure regulator vent is blocked


Unblock or replace the pressure regulator


The oven door is not closed all the way


Close the oven door and check for interference


The door spring is defective


Replace or tighten the spring

Griddle Not Holding Temperature 

Cause

Solution 


The thermostat is not calibrated or the bypass flame exceeds the recommend threshold


Calibrate the thermostat or temper the bypass flame


The pressure regulator vent is blocked


Unblock or replace the pressure regulator


The thermostat was installed with the wrong dial


Replace the thermostat dial

Griddle Won't Reach Temperature 

Cause

Solution


The thermostat is uncalibrated


Calibrate the thermostat


The gas pressure is too low


Check the gas pressure


The orifice is the wrong size


Double check the orifice is the right size. If not, replace it


The thermostat sensor is out of position


Reposition the thermostat sensor


The thermostat sensor is touching the flame


Check thermostat sensor for damage before replacing or repositioning


Wrong gas-to-air ratio


Adjust the air shutter


The burner is blocked


Clean the burners

Jade Range Troubleshooting: Won’t Cook Properly 

Oven Not Cooking Evenly 

Cause

Solution 


The temperature is beyond or below the recommended threshold 


Test the oven temperature with a thermometer


The range is not level


Ensure the range is level


The door is not closed all the way


Close the oven door and check for interference


The door spring is defective


Replace or tighten the spring


The food isn’t positioned in the center


Place food in the center of the rack


The gas pressure is fluctuating


Check the gas pressure and make the necessary adjustments

Oven Food Dried Out 

Cause

Solution


The temperature is below the recommended threshold 


Change the temperature and/or cooking duration


The thermostat is uncalibrated


Calibrate the thermostat


Food was overcooked


Change the temperature and/or cooking duration

Griddle Not Cooking Evenly 

Cause

Solution


The range is not level


Level the range


The orifice is the wrong size


Double check the orifice is the right size. If not, replace it


Wrong gas-to-air ratio


Adjust the air shutter


The burner ports are blocked


Clean or replace the burner ports

Jade Range Troubleshooting: Not Lighting

Top Burner Won't Light

Cause

Solution 


The orifice is the wrong size


Double check the orifice is the right size. If not, replace it


Wrong gas-to-air ratio


Adjust the air shutter


The pressure regulator vent is blocked


Unblock or replace the pressure regulator


The pilot is misaligned


Position the pilot light so that it intersects at the burner ports


The air shutter or venturi is blocked


Unblock the air shutter or venturi


There is water or grease in the burner ports


Clean the burner ports


The pilot flame is too high or low


Position the pilot flame so that it intersects at the burner ports

Oven Burner Won't Light

Cause

Solution


The pilot is not lit


Light the pilot


The pilot flame is too low


Position the pilot light so that it insects at the burner


The pilot burner is improperly positioned


Reposition the pilot burner


The thermocouple is defective or improperly positioned


Replace or reposition the thermocouple


The burner orifice is the wrong size


Double check the orifice is the right size. If not, replace it


The gas pressure is too high or low


Check the gas pressure and make the necessary adjustments


The pressure regulator vent is blocked


Unblock the vent in the pressure regulator


Wrong gas-to-air ratio


Adjust the air shutter


The oven burner is blocked or dirty


Clean the burner ports


The oven burner is not properly seated on the orifice


Reposition the oven burner so that it sits directly over the orifice


The gas safety valve is faulty


Replace the gas safety valve


The thermocouple is faulty


Replace the thermocouple 

Oven Pilot Won't Stay Lit

Cause

Solution


The pilot orifice is blocked


Clear the blockage


The gas pressure or volume is too low


Check the gas pressure and make the necessary adjustments


There is a draft


Neutralize the draft

Oven Pilot Light Not Working (Standard Oven)

Cause

Solution


Air is trapped in the gas lines


Release air from gas lines and relight the pilot


The red button was released prematurely


Press and hold red button until pilot stays lit


The pilot orifice is clogged


Clean and unclog the pilot orifice


The safety valve is defective


Replace the safety valve


The thermocouple is defective


Replace the thermocouple

Oven Pilot Light Not Working (Convection Oven)

Cause

Solution


The ignition module is faulty


Replace the ignition module


The sparker is faulty


Replace the sparker


The sparker’s wiring is faulty


Replace the sparker

Burners Not Working Properly (Flame Is Lazy or Yellow)

Cause

Solution 


The orifice is too big


Double check the orifice is the right size. If not, replace it


The air shutter is closed


Open the air shutter


The gas pressure is too high


Check the gas pressure and make the necessary adjustments


There is grease, water or debris in the burner ports 



Clean or replace the burner ports


There is foil on the burner hanger


Remove the foil

Jade Range Fan Troubleshooting

Convection Fan Not Working

Cause

Solution


The door switch is faulty


Replace the door switch


The blower AUTO/MANUAL switch is faulty


Replace the blower switch


The motor is faulty


Replace the motor


There is a short in the wiring


Test for shorts in the motor circuit


The capacitor is faulty


Replace the capacitor

Convection Fan Only Works in Manual Mode

Cause

Solution


The door switch is faulty


Replace the door switch


The blower AUTO/ON switch is faulty


Replace the blower switch

Convection Fan Making Noise

Cause

Solution


The motor mounting is loose


Refasten bolts on the motor’s mounting


The fan is loose


Tighten the fan’s set screws


The motor bearings are broken


Replace the motor


The motor is faulty


Replace the motor


The blower is hitting the cover


Reposition the blower/cover

Jade Range Smells Like Gas

Gas Odor

Cause

Solution


The pilots are not lit


Light the pilot lights


The burner is not correctly seated over the orifice


Reposition the burner so that it sits directly over the orifice


There is incomplete combustion in the burner


Adjust the air shutter and check the gas pressure


The burner fails to sustain a flame


Unblock and clean the burners


There is a leak in the gas line or fittings


Check for gas leaks and repair or replace the gas line and connections


The pressure regulator is broken


Replace the pressure regulator
