Multiplex Blended Ice Machine Cleaning

A Multiplex ice machine helps everyone sip on chilled and enjoy icy cold drinks. Providing a clean machine is essential to ensure that ice is sanitary and safe. Below we will help you with Multiplex blended ice machine cleaning procedures, for both daily and weekly cleaning. The following guide is made for the Multiplex blended ice machine MS-8 models like MS-8-1H, MS-8-CH, MS-8-ALH, MS000A04 and more. 

Ice Machine Daily Cleaning

  • Step 1. Enter cleaning mode - On the menu screen, press cleaning and then daily cleaning.
  • Step 2. Empty ice hopper - Remove the ice hopper lid, then use an ice scoop and empty bucket to remove as much ice as possible. Place the lid back on the hopper.
  • Step 3. Dispense ice - Place a blend pitcher on the pitcher pad. Press and hold the “Manual Ice Dispense” button until the hopper is empty. Remove the pitcher and discard the ice. 
  • Step 4. Remove and sanitize parts - Remove the blending pitchers, ice hopper lid, syrup rail, drip pan and splash guard. Using a 3 compartment sink, wash, rinse and sanitize these parts. 
  • Step 5. Clean blending pitchers - Place 1 KAY Beverage Equipment Cleaner packet into the first pitcher, fill with hot water and let this soak for 5 minutes. Use a no-scratch pad to remove any film build-up. Pour the solution into the second pitcher and let this soak for 5 minutes. After, discard the solution, then rinse and sanitize both pitchers. Allow them to air dry.
  • Step 6. Sanitize ice chute - Using a spray bottle with a sanitizer solution and a sanitized towel, sanitize inside the ice chute, above and around the ice chute. 
  • Step 7. Clean pitcher pad and drain - Rinse the drain area and drain with hot water. Spray both with a sanitizer solution and wipe clean. Clean the top and sides of the pad.
  • Step 8. Reinstall parts - Reinstall the blend pitchers, ice hopper lid, syrup rails, drip pan and splash guard. 
  • Step 9. Clean machine interior - Use APSC (All Purpose Super Concentrate) and a towel damped with KAY 5 Sanitizer solution to clean the interior of the machine. Pull out the whipped cream holder and clean. Clean the area inside the machine that holds the cream holder. Clean the gaskets as well.
  • Step 10. Clean machine exterior - Use a towel damped with KAY 5 Sanitizer solution to clean the exterior of the machine. Wipe down the lid holders, cup holder tubes, cabinet, front of door, top of work surface, touch screen and the outside of the ice hopper.

Ice Machine Weekly Cleaning

One thing to note before starting the weekly cleaning process is that the drain can’t be used for at least four hours after cleaning.

Initial Setup

  • Step 1. Enter cleaning mode - On the menu screen, press cleaning and then weekly cleaning.
  • Step 2. Empty ice hopper - Remove the ice hopper lid, then use an ice scoop and empty bucket to remove as much ice as possible. Place the lid back on the hopper.
  • Step 3. Dispense ice - Place a blend pitcher on the pitcher pad. Press and hold the “Manual Ice Dispense” button until the hopper is empty. Remove the pitcher and discard the ice. 
  • Step 4. Fill buckets - Fill a bucket with hot SolidSense APSC and then fill a separate bucket with warm, clean water. Fill a third bucket with 5 gallons of lukewarm water and 2 packets of KAY 5 Sanitizer and mix thoroughly.
  • Step 5. Remove product bins and bags - Remove each product bag from the bin and place it in a cooler. Remove the bins and wash, rinse and sanitize them in a 3 compartment sink. Allow them to air dry.

Tube Cleaning

  • Step 6. Connect cleaning tubes - Connect each cleaning tube to each inlet line. Insert the free end of the tubes into the bucket of clean SolidSense APSC solution. All of the lines must be cleaned, including any unused ones.
  • Step 7. Install cleaning pitcher - Place the black cleaning pitcher on the pitcher pad.
  • Step 8. Start cleaning process - Press next on the machine. The message window will display: “APSC cleaning of Strawberry Banana Line”, then change to the next flavor until every line has been cleaned. After the last line is cleaned, the next cleaning screen will appear.
  • Step 9. Remove tubes - Remove the tube ends from the APSC bucket and place them into the rinse bucket. 
  • Step 10. Start rinse process - Press next on the machine. The message window will display: “ Rinse of Strawberry Banana Line”, then change to the next flavor until every line has been rinsed. After the last line is cleaned, the next screen will appear.
  • Step 11. Remove tubes - Remove the tube ends from the rinse bucket and place them into the sanitize bucket.
  • Step 12. Start sanitizing process - Press next on the machine. The message window will display: “ Sanitizer fill of Strawberry Banana Line”, then change to the next flavor until every line has been sanitized. After the last line is sanitized, “Sanitizer Hold” will appear, then the next screen will appear.
  • Step 13. Remove tubes - Remove the tube ends from the sanitizer bucket and lay across the top rim of the bucket.
  • Step 14. Start purge process - Press next on the machine. The message window will display: “Auto purge of Strawberry Banana Line”, then change to the next flavor until every line has been purged. The next screen will appear.
  • Step 15. Disconnect tubes - Disconnect the cleaning tubes from each product line.
  • Step 16. Lubricate product lines - Using either Taylor Lube HP or Carpigiani Carpilube, put a small amount of lube around each product line. 
  • Step 17. Remove drain pan - Pull the bottom drain pan from inside the machine.
  • Step 18. Reconnect bins and bags - Install the product bags back into the bins. Position the rear groove of the spout on the product bag into the front slot of the product bin. Make sure it snaps into place, then install each bin into their location.

Component Cleaning

  • Step 19. Insert blending pitcher - Replace the cleaning pitcher with the blending pitcher. Discard any discharged product from the blender.
  • Step 20. Remove hopper lid - Remove the ice hopper lid. 
  • Step 21. Place cleaning pitcher - Place the black cleaning pitcher on the pitcher pad.
  • Step 22. Fill and pour blend pitcher - Fill a blend pitcher with SolidSense APSC. Slowly pour this into the ice hopper in a circular motion, as close and high up the inside walls as possible. 
  • Step 23. Clean inside hopper - Use a clean sanitizer-soaked towel to clean the inside of the hopper. Be careful while wiping near the shaver blade.
  • Step 24. Rinse ice hopper - With clean water, slowly pour into the ice hopper in a circular motion, as close and high up the inside walls as possible.
  • Step 25. Remove cleaning pitcher - Remove the black cleaning pitcher from the pitcher pad, making sure not to splash any solution from the pitcher.
  • Step 26. Spray interior - Spray the ice hopper interior with a sanitizer solution and allow it to air dry. 
  • Step 27. Remove, clean and sanitize parts - Remove the blend pitchers, scale overflow tray, ice hopper lid, syrup rail, drip pan and splash guard. Using a 3 compartment sink, wash, rinse and sanitize these parts. 
  • Step 28. Clean blending pitchers - Place 1 KAY Beverage Equipment Cleaner packet into the first pitcher, fill with hot water and let this soak for 5 minutes. Use a no-scratch pad to remove any film build-up. Pour the solution into the second pitcher and let this soak for 5 minutes. After, discard the solution, then rinse and sanitize both pitchers. Allow them to air dry.
  • Step 29. Sanitize ice chute - Using a spray bottle with a sanitizer solution and a sanitized towel, sanitize inside the ice chute, above and around the ice chute. 
  • Step 30. Clean pitcher pad and drain - Rinse the drain area and drain with hot water. Spray both with a sanitizer solution and wipe clean. Clean the top and sides of the pad.
  • Step 31. Reinstall parts - Reinstall the blend pitchers, scale overflow tray, ice hopper lid, syrup rails, drip pan and splash guard.
  • Step 32. Clean machine interior - Use APSC (All Purpose Super Concentrate) and a towel damped with KAY 5 Sanitizer solution to clean the interior of the machine. Pull out the whipped cream holder and clean. Clean the area inside the machine that holds the cream holder. Clean the door gaskets as well.
  • Step 33. Clean machine exterior - Use APSC (All Purpose Super Concentrate) and a towel damped with KAY 5 Sanitizer solution to clean the exterior of the machine. Wipe down the lid holders, cup holder tubes, cabinet, front of door, top of work surface, touch screen and the outside of the ice hopper.
  • Step 34. Pour water to rinse area - Slowly pour 2 full pitchers of hot water from the back sink into the rinse area. 

Dispenser Cleaning

  • Step 35. Open pressure relief knob - On top of the  BIO-SHIELD® dispenser, open the pressure relief knob by turning the knob counterclockwise. Remove the dispenser cap. 
  • Step 36. Pour hot water in dispenser - Pour two full pitchers of hot water from the back sink into the dispenser.
  • Step 37. Clean dispenser - Pour 1 packet of BIO-SHIELD Beverage Tower Drain Cleaner into the dispenser and immediately tighten the dispenser cap back on. Turn the pressure relief knob clockwise to close it. Shake the dispenser to dissolve the cleaner.
  • Step 38. Purge dispenser - Purge a small amount of solution from the dispenser into a sink. 
  • Step 39. Spray solution in drain hole - Carefully spray the solution into the rinser sink drain hole.
  • Step 40. Open pressure relief knob - Reopen the pressure relief knob again, turning it counterclockwise. Remove the cap again.
  • Step 41. Rinse dispenser - Rinse the BIO-SHIELD® dispenser with warm water and return the dispenser to the proper storage area.
