Scotsman makes ice machines for a wide variety of restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities and other industries. While these units are built to stand the test of time, everyday wear and tear will make occasional maintenance necessary.

When you're troubleshooting a Scotsman ice machine, you'll notice that some models display error codes or diagnostic lights to notify you when something is wrong. But what do they mean? Below are Scotsman ice machine error codes to help diagnose and resolve the problem quickly.

Error Codes for Prodigy Modular Cuber Ice Machines

Below are diagnostic error codes for Scotsman Prodigy modular cubers, including C0322, C0522, C0722, C0330, C0530, C0630, C0830, C01030, C01448, C01848 and C02148 models.

Number Fault Codes

  • Error Code 1 - Long freeze time, shutting down
  • Error Code 1 (flashing) - Long freeze cycle, retrying
  • Error Code 2 - Long harvest time, shutting down
  • Error Code 2 (flashing) - Long harvest cycle, retrying
  • Error Code 3 - Water filling slowly
  • Error Code 4 - High discharge temperature
  • Error Code 5 - Failed sump temp sensor
  • Error Code 7 - Failed discharge temp sensor
  • Error Code 8 - Short freeze cycle, retrying
  • Error Code 8 (flashing) -Thin ice from short freeze cycle

Error Codes for Prodigy Flaked & Nugget Ice Machines

Below are diagnostic error codes for Scotsman Prodigy flaked and nugget ice machines, including F0522, F0822, F1222, F1522, N0422, N0622, N0922 and N1322 models.

Number Error Codes

  • Error Code 1 - No ice sensed, shutting down
  • Error Code 1 (flashing) - No ice sensed, retrying
  • Error Code 2 - Auger motor high load, shutting down
  • Error Code 2 (flashing) - Auger motor high load, retrying
  • Error Code 3 - No water in reservoir
  • Error Code 4 - Refrigeration pressure too high or low

Letter Diagnostic Codes

  • Error Code F - Freeze mode
  • Error Code F (flashing) - Freeze mode is about to start
  • Error Code b - Bin is full
  • Error Code C - Clean cycle
  • Error Code L - Board locked

Diagnostic Lights for AutoIQ™ Cuber Ice Machines

Below are diagnostic error codes for Scotsman AutoIQ™ cubers, including CME256, CME506, CME656 and CME806 models.

No Light On or Blinking, Machine Is Off

  • Bin is full - Use some ice.
  • No power - Restore power to the unit; if necessary, check the power supply.
  • Transformer is open - Contact an authorized technician to remedy the issue.
  • Unit is off (Off light is glowing) - Restart the unit by pushing and releasing the Freeze button.
  • Compressor won’t start - Call a licensed technician to resolve the issue.
  • Unit has shut down - Check for refrigeration or water error; if necessary, schedule an appointment with an authorized technician for assistance.

Water Diagnostic Light On, Unit Is Off

  • Water pump is defective - Make sure that the pump hose is attached and the pump is plugged in and working.
  • Water level not sensed/not high enough - Check harness from sensor, levelness and standpipe height.

Water Diagnostic Light Blinks 2 Times and Repeats, Unit Is Off

  • Water inlet valve is faulty - Reach out to a licensed technician to solve the problem.

Refrigeration Diagnostic Light Is On, Unit Is Off

  • Low discharge or long freeze cycle - Make an appointment with a licensed technician to address the issue.
  • Hot gas valve is faulty - Schedule an appointment with an authorized technician to solve the problem.
  • Unit doesn’t go into harvest and exceeds maximum freeze time - Push and release the Off button, Freeze button or cube size float and then check operation. If issues persist, reach out to a licensed technician for assistance.
  • Machine exceeds maximum freeze time - Call an authorized technician to service the unit.

Refrigeration Diagnostic Light Blinks 1 Time and Repeats, Unit Is Off

  • Harvest error (cubes are sensed) - Seek out a licensed technician to address the issue.

Refrigeration Diagnostic Light Blinks 2 Times and Repeats, Unit Is Off

  • Harvest error (no cubes sensed) - Schedule a service appointment with a licensed technician.

Refrigeration Diagnostic Light Blinks 3 Times and Repeats, Unit Is Off

  • High discharge temperature - Contact an authorized technician to remedy the issue.

Both Refrigeration & Water Diagnostic Light On, Unit Is Running

  • Temperature sensors are out of range - Call an authorized technician for service.

Only 1 Light Is On, Unit is Running

  • Reservoir temperature is wrong - Reset the unit by pushing and releasing the Off and Freeze buttons, then check the water temperature and sensor again. If issues continue, schedule an appointment with a licensed technician.

Refrigeration Light On or Blinks 3 Times & Repeats, Unit Is Running

  • Motor windings are open or bearings are seized - Contact an authorized technician to solve the problem.
  • No power to fan motor - Make sure the fan motor isn’t unplugged. If it’s plugged in and the problem continues, reach out to a licensed technician for help.
