Vitamix Blender Cleaning

Daily Cleaning with Dish Soap
Never submerge the base of the blender in water or any other liquid as this can damage the electrical components.
- Step 1. Fill the container - Fill the blending container halfway with warm water and a few drops of dish soap.
- Step 2. Secure the lid - Secure the lid onto the container and place the container back onto the base.
- Step 3. Turn the blender on - Press the start/stop button to start the blender, then slowly increase the speed to 10.
- Step 4. Let it run - Let the blender run for about 30-60 seconds.
- Step 5. Decrease the speed - Slowly decrease the speed to 1, then press the start/stop button to stop the blender.
- Step 6. Cut power to the blender - In order to minimize electrical hazards disconnect the power cord from the wall.
- Step 7. Rinse the container - Dump out the soapy water from the container into a sink. Rinse the container with clean water and dry thoroughly with a cloth.
- Step 8. Remove the accessories - Before cleaning the base, remove the center pad from the blender. Take the container lid, lid plug, tamper and center pad and set these aside for cleaning later.
- Step 9. Wash the base - CLean the blender base and control panel surfaces with dish soap and a damp sponge.
- Step 10. Rinse the base - Wipe away any remaining food residues or soap suds with a damp cloth.
- Step 11. Dry the base - Use a clean, dry cloth to dry the blender base.
- Step 12. Wash the accessories - Wash the container lid, lid plug, tamper and center pad with warm soapy water.
- Step 13. Rinse and dry the accessories - Rinse all the accessories with clean water, then dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.
Daily Cleaning with Vinegar
- Step 1. Fill the container - Fill the blending container with 1 part vinegar and 1 part warm water.
- Step 2. Secure the lid - Secure the lid onto the container and place the container back onto the base.
- Step 3. Turn the blender on - Press the start/stop button to start the blender, then slowly increase the speed.
- Step 4. Let it run - Let the blender run for 2 minutes.
- Step 5. Decrease the speed - Slowly decrease the speed, then press the start/stop button to stop the blender.
- Step 6. Let the solution sit - Let the solution sit in the container for 3 minutes.
- Step 7. Pour solution over lid - At a sink, pour the solution over the container’s lid interior.
- Step 8. Repeat steps 1-7 - Repeat steps 1-7 until the container is fully clean.
- Step 9. Rinse and dry the container - After the container is fully clean, pour the solution out into a sink. Rinse and dry the container.
Removing Stains
Berries and other ingredients can occasionally cause staining. Follow the steps below to help remove stains from the blender.
- Step 1. Fill the blender container - Fill the blender container halfway with warm water and 1 cup of vinegar.
- Step 2. Let the solution sit - Let the vinegar solution sit in the container for a couple of hours.
- Step 3. Pour out the solution - After a few hours, pour the vinegar solution out of the container into a sink.
- Step 4. Scrub the stains - Use a soft pot scrubber to scrub any remaining stains inside the container.
Monthly Deep Cleaning
In addition to the daily procedures that maintain good hygiene, monthly deep cleaning of your Vitamix blender is important because it removes thin films and off odors that affect the quality of food prepared in the unit.
- Step 1. Remove the container from the base - Disconnect the container from the motor base and place it on a counter, table or some other surface.
- Step 2. Soak the container - Put 4 cups of vinegar and 4 cups of cold water into the container and let the solution sit in the unit for 4 hours.
- Step 3. Rinse the container - Pour out the solution and rinse the container with clean, warm water.
- Step 4. Perform the daily cleaning procedure - Follow up the deep cleaning with the normal daily cleaning procedure for the container and lid as outlined in this article.
