Troubleshooting a Blendtec Blender

Troubleshooting a Blendtec Blender

Blendtec blenders utilize industry-leading technology to create delicious smoothies, coffees, milkshakes and more quickly and consistently. In the rare case that something’s not right with your unit, this guide on troubleshooting a Blendtec blender will help you identify errors and resolve issues quickly and easily.

This information is for commercial units, such as the STEALTH 885 and CONNOISSEUR 825.

Blender Motor Won’t Turn On

  • Main power switch is turned OFF - Turn the main power switch to the ON position.
  • Machine is unplugged - Plug the power cord into a power source.
  • Power cord isn’t plugged in firmly - Push the electrical cord firmly into the outlet to make a tighter connection.
  • Circuit breaker is off or tripped/fuse is blown - Check your circuit breaker switch or fuse to make sure it’s set to the ON position. If issues persist, contact an authorized electrician.
  • Unit needs to be reset - Unplug the power cord from the outlet, wait 5 minutes and then plug it back into the outlet.

Blade Isn’t Spinning

  • Jar isn’t seated properly - Position the jar correctly on the blender base.
  • Blade is loosely attached to the drive shaft - Hold the drive shaft in one hand and attempt to spin the blade with the other; if the blade spins, replace the jar.
  • Jar splines are defective - Discard the current jar and use a new one.

Light Not Working

  • Main power button is defective - Reach out to a licensed Blendtec technician to address the issue.
  • No power to the unit - First, make sure that the unit is plugged into an outlet. If there’s still no power to the unit, check the circuit breaker and call a licensed electrician to solve the problem if needed.

Jar Is Leaking

  • Lid is loose - Push the lid down so that it forms a tight seal on the jar.
  • Jar shaft is defective - Try to move the jar shaft side to side or up and down. If you can move the jar shaft, replace the jar.

Button Doesn’t Work

  • Button is dirty - Wipe the controls with a damp cloth to remove any residues that are keeping the button from working properly.
  • Button is faulty - Contact an authorized Blendtec technician to correct the problem.
  • Button is temporarily disabled - Enable the button by resetting the blender: unplug the unit, wait 5 minutes and then plug the unit in again.

Blended Texture Is Lumpy or Uneven

  • Air pockets are forming in the jar - Reduce ice, increase the amount of liquid or ensure that frozen ingredients are never colder than 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 degrees Celsius) in order to raise the mix temperature and minimize air pockets.
  • Cycle time isn’t long enough - Extend the cycle time by touching or holding the pulse button for as long as needed.
  • Jar isn’t seated properly - Make sure that the jar is positioned on the base properly.
  • Blade can’t spin due to hard or thick ingredients - Don’t place excessively hard or thick ingredients in the jar.
  • Blade isn’t firmly attached to the drive shaft - Attempt to spin the blade with one hand while holding the drive shaft with another. If the blade spins, replace the jar.

Unit Is Noisy

  • Blender motor is defective - Remove the blender jar, press the Pulse button and listen to the motor. If the motor is the issue, contact an authorized Blendtec technician to address the problem.
  • Blender jar is faulty - Place the jar back on the motor, press the Pulse button for a few seconds and listen to the jar. If the jar is excessively noisy, call a licensed Blendtec technician to remedy the issue.
  • Blade assembly is faulty - Turn the blade assembly by hand: if it seems loose or sounds “gravelly,” reach out to an authorized Blendtec technician for assistance.

Error Code Message on Display

  • Overload Error or “E-02” - The motor is overloaded when you see this error. Remove the jar from the blender, check for any blockage and clear it. Then reset the unit by returning the jar to the motor, unplugging the unit, waiting 30 seconds and then plugging it in again. Use the Pulse button to resume the blending process.
  • Overtemp Error or “E-01” - This error message appears when the motor has overheated. When this happens, the blender will disable itself until it cools down to a normal temperature. Allow the unit to cool for at least 20 minutes before resuming use.
  • Reset Error or “E-05” - The reset error happens when there’s a permanent failure of the electronics. Contact an authorized Blendtec technician to assist with this error.
  • No Zero Crossing Error or “E-04“ -  This message happens when there’s a failure of a component on the electronic board. Contact a licensed Blendtec technician to address the issue.
