Flames licking through charbroiler grates - Bakers Pride charbroiler cleaning

We’ve all seen it: the dirty kitchen with greased-up equipment sporting blackened stains and burnt-on food remnants that look like it hasn’t been cleaned since it was taken out of its box 5 years ago. If you don’t want to be on a first-name basis with the service technician, try incorporating Bakers Pride charbroiler cleaning instructions into your daily routine. Not only will following these simple procedures keep your kitchen immaculate, but it will also preserve the flavor of the food and the reliability of the charbroiler.

This guide encompasses the XX, CH, C, F and L Dante series charbroiler models.

Daily Bakers Pride Charbroiler Cleaning

Before performing daily, weekly, monthly and annual cleaning and maintenance on your Bakers Pride charbroiler, shut off the main gas supply for safety.

Top Grid

Bakers Pride recommends using steel wool or a stiff wire brush to clean the frame, tubes and angles on the front, sides and back after removing the top grid. From there, you can use the scraper to remove fat and other food debris from the grates. There should be a light, oily sheen leftover that will enhance flavors and create a non-stick surface similar to a seasoned skillet

If after using the low-heat setting you notice an excess amount of fat build-up, you can turn up the flame for about an hour before using the scraper to remove the grease.

Note: Never “burn off” the top grates, as this causes the firebox area to overheat and warp components such as the grates, radiants, burners and/or gas valves. i.e. do not cover the top grates with sheet pans and crank up the heat to clean the grates. Never use soap, water or any detergents on cast iron grates.

Stainless Steel Exterior & Front

Since the outer sides and front of a Baker’s Pride charbroiler are crafted out of stainless steel, the manufacturer approves the use of any reputable stainless steel cleaner to polish these areas.

Interior

Although the interior is made out of stainless steel as well, the manufacturer recommends using a paste-type oven cleaner for these areas. As chemical cleaners can be toxic when ingested, take extra care to thoroughly remove any cleaning residues before cooking on your charbroiler.

Don’t forget to empty the grease collection pan every day once it’s cooled down, and dispose of it properly.

Water Tub

Empty the water tub daily and dispose of any grease that might have dripped into it while cooking. Refill the tub immediately with fresh water to prevent flare-ups and eliminate flashbacks on radiant-style charbroilers.

Weekly & Monthly Bakers Pride Charbroiler Cleaning

Once every 1-4 weeks, you should soak the top grate in a detergent degreasing solution to remove any stubborn residues and extend equipment life. However, this means you’ll have to re-season the grill by coating both sides of the top grate with oil or fat, turning the temperature to medium-high heat, and letting it cook for about 30 minutes.

Annual Bakers Pride Charbroiler Cleaning

Once a year, you should have qualified gas appliance service personnel. This is how to perform annual maintenance on your Bakers Pride charbroiler:

  • Step 1. Disconnect the gas supply.
  • Step 2. Uninstall the front knobs.
  • Step 3. Take off the outer front panel.
  • Step 4. Unscrew the collar on each valve.
  • Step 5. Dismantle the valves
  • Step 6. Lubricate the rotor assembly with high-temperature valve grease.
    • Note: Only use grease that’s approved for all gas types.
  • Step 7. Reassemble the broiler and valves in reverse order.

Can You Put Charbroiler Grill Grates in the Dishwasher?
