Hatco Toaster Cleaning

A malfunctioning toaster can be detrimental to a commercial kitchen, so make sure you can troubleshoot any issues to get your appliance working smoothly. The following Hatco toaster cleaning tips are for Hatco Toast-Qwik® models like TQ-10, TQ-400, TQ-800,TQ-1200 and TQ-1800 Series.

Issue/Problem

Cause

Solution

Toaster overheating

Fan intake area is blocked

Unplug the machine and clean the fan intake area to clear it of debris.

Toast too light

  1. Color control knob is set on a light setting
  2. Voltage to unit is too low
  1. Turn the color control knob to a darker setting
  2. Check that the supply voltage matches the toaster requirements

Toast too dark

  1. Color control knob is set on a dark setting
  2. Voltage to unit is too high
  1. Turn the color control knob to a lighter setting
  2. Check that the supply voltage matches the toaster requirements

Toaster taking too long to cook

  1. Toaster wasn’t fully heated up
  2. Voltage to unit is too low
  1. Wait for toaster to heat up to full operating temperature
  2. Check that the supply voltage matches the toaster requirements

Toasts only on one side

  1. Toaster is a “buns” only model
  2. Bottom heat or top heat control set too low or in the O position
  3. Heating element is defective
  1. Check that your model number doesn’t have “BA” in it
  2. Turn the bottom or top control to a higher setting or to the I position
  3. Check if the element glows red. If it does not, contact Hatco or an authorized service agent

Toaster tripping circuit breaker

  1. Circuit breaker isn’t sized for toaster
  2. Faulty wiring in toaster
  1. Check circuit breaker for proper sizing
  2. Contact Hatco or an authorized service agent

Conveyor not moving

Food is jammed in the conveyor track

Turn off the unit, wait for it to cool, and remove any product
jamming the conveyor
