Lang Oven Troubleshooting

When it comes to baking and convection cooking, Lang is one of the most recognized brands in foodservice. Its line of commercial ovens have the speed and versatility to make any signature dish in a matter of minutes. If your unit ever experiences a rare issue, our Lang oven troubleshooting guide below can help you diagnose the problem quickly.

The following is applicable to most Lang oven models including those with or without built-in cooktops. 

Oven Won’t Heat

  • Power switch is off – Turn the power switch to “ON” position.
  • Faulty pilot ignition – Have the pilot ignition checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
  • Circuit breaker is off or tripped – Turn on or reset the breaker. 
  • Faulty thermostat or over-temperature thermostat – Have either thermostat checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
  • Faulty contactor – Have the faulty contactor checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
  • Faulty motor or centrifugal switch in motor – Have either component checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
  • Faulty valve – Have the valve checked and repaired by an authorized technician.

Burnt Food

  • Food is being cooked too long – Try to reduce time to prevent burning. If available, check the instructions on the food’s packaging for suggested cook times.
  • Temperature setting is wrong - Check that the temperature setting has been adjusted to what best fits the product being prepared.
  • Faulty circuit board – Have the circuit board checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
  • Faulty probe – Have the probe checked and repaired by an authorized technician.

Undercooked Food

  • Food isn’t being cooked long enough – Try to increase cooking time to prevent burning. If available, check the instructions on the food’s packaging for suggested cook times.
  • Temperature setting is wrong - Check that the temperature setting has been adjusted to what best fits the product being prepared.
  • Faulty circuit board – Have the circuit board checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
  • Faulty probe – Have the probe checked and repaired by an authorized technician.

Power Indicator Light Won’t Light

  • No power to the electrical outlet – See if there is a tripped circuit or blow fuse in your building.
  • Power cord is unplugged or damaged – Plug the power cord back in. If there is damage to the cord, have it replaced by an authorized technician.
  • Faulty indicator light – Have the indicator light checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
  • Faulty power switch – Have the switch checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
  • Faulty pilot ignition – Have the pilot ignition checked and repaired by an authorized technician.
