LG washing machines are known for their versatility and dependability. Although issues with these machines are rare, this list of LG washing machine troubleshooting codes will help you identify and resolve problems with your unit quickly and easily.
These directions are applicable to a variety of units, such as the WM3900HBA front load washer, WT7305CW top load washer and others.
OE: Water Outlet Error
- Drain hose is kinked or clogged - Straighten the drain hose or remove the obstruction.
- Drain pump filter is clogged - Contact an authorized technician to service the unit.
- Drain discharge is too far above bottom of washer - Make an appointment with a licensed technician.
IE Inlet Error
- Water supply faucet is turned off or not fully open - Turn on the water or open the faucet fully.
- Water supply hose is bent - Unfold the hose.
- Water inlet filters are clogged - Clean the inlet filters.
- Water supply pressure is too low - Reach out to a licensed plumber to remedy the issue.
- Water supply connected with leak-limiting hoses - Don’t use leak-limiting hoses since they can trip falsely.
- Water supply hose is frozen (due to cold weather) - Disconnect the supply hose and thaw it with hot water of at least 122°F (50°C).
UE or Ub: Unbalanced Error
- Load is too small - Add additional items or rearrange the items to balance the load.
- Heavy items mixed with lighter ones - Don’t mix heavy and light items; instead, only combine items of similar weight.
- Load is out of balance (especially if washing large items like sheets or blankets) - Redistribute items in the drum manually.
- Load has entire pillows or cushions - Wash the covers only.
LE: Motor Locked Error
- Machine is overloaded - Unplug the unit, wait 5 minutes and then restart the cycle. Or, remove items to reduce the load.
LE1: Foreign Object Error
- Foreign object, such as a coin, is stuck in the tub - Remove the item: use pliers or tweezers if necessary.
dE, dE1 and dE2: Door/Lid Lock Error
- Door or lid isn’t locked securely - Open and reclose the door, making sure no items are trapped between the door/lid and frame.
FE: Overflow Error
- Water level is too high due to a faulty water valve - Close the water faucets, unplug the unit and call a licensed technician to remedy the issue.
PE: Pressure Sensor Error
- Water level sensor isn’t working correctly - Close the water faucets, unplug the unit and contact an authorized technician to solve the issue.
PF: Power Failure
- Power supply is interrupted, usually due to a power outage - Reset the unit by unplugging it, pressing the Start/Pause button for 5 seconds, restoring power and then running a cycle again.
tE: Temperature Sensor Error
- A control error has occurred, usually because of a faulty thermistor - Unplug the washer, wait 10 seconds, plug the unit in again and restart. If the issue persists, schedule an appointment with a licensed technician
Sud: Oversudsing Error
- Machine detects too many suds - Don’t use more than the recommended amount of detergent.
CE: Current Error
- Incoming power isn’t stable - If the incoming power isn’t stable, there are multiple possible causes and solutions:
- Power cord is loose - Plug it in securely.
- Power cord is defective - Replace the cord.
- Unit needs to be reset - Unplug the machine, wait 30 seconds then restore power.
- Power board is faulty or defective - Reach out to an authorized technician for assistance.
Eb: Clutch Error (Top Load Units Only)
- A mechanical failure has occurred - Unplug the unit and call a licensed technician to remedy the issue.
Dr: Drain Feature (Top Load Units Only)
- Washer was paused during a cycle for more than 4 minutes, so the unit is aborting the cycle and draining the tub - This isn’t an error code: it indicates that the drain is working properly.
Cd: Cool Down
- Drying cycle is complete, so the unit is cooling down - This isn’t an error code: it shows that the unit is functioning correctly.
CL: Child Lock Function
- Child lock is activated - This isn’t an error code: the unit is functioning properly. To deactivate child lock, press and hold the control lock button for 3 seconds.
tCL: Tub Clean Function
- Washer drum is dirty or Tub Clean cycle is activated - This isn’t an error code. If the drum is dirty, use the Tub Clean cycle to clean it.
