Sanremo Espresso Machine Operating Instructions

Whether you’re training new baristas, standardizing procedures in a commercial kitchen or just looking to improve shot consistency, following the right steps makes all the difference. This guide breaks down Sanremo espresso machine operating instructions into a clear, step‑by‑step process to help you brew better espresso, protect your equipment, and keep service running smoothly.

How Do I Operate a Sanremo Espresso Machine?

  • Step 1. Remove and empty filter holder - Remove the filter holder from the dispensing group by rotating it in the direction of the arrow. Turn the filter holder upside down and gently tap it to release the used grounds.
  • Step 2. Dose coffee - Add freshly ground coffee into the filter holder until it’s full. Lightly tap the bottom of the filter holder to let the coffee settle and level out. 
  • Step 3. Tamp coffee grounds - Using the coffee presser, press the coffee grounds firmly into the filter holder.
  • Step 4. Clean filter holder edge - Carefully clean the edge of the filter holder to remove any loose coffee grounds. Leaving coffee residue on the rim can compromise the seal, causing water and coffee grounds to leak during brewing.
  • Step 5. Flush group (as needed) - If the machine has been idle for more than 15 minutes, perform a flush cycle before brewing. This helps stabilize the group temperature and prevents burned or bitter coffee flavors.
  • Step 6. Lock filter holder into group - Insert the filter holder back into the dispensing group. Rotate it until it’s fully seated and locked in place.
  • Step 7. Place cup - Place the coffee cup directly under the filter holder.
  • Step 8. Start brewing - Press the desired coffee dose button and let the machine begin brewing. 

How Do I Make Hot Water on a Sanremo Machine?

  • Step 1. Place jug - Place a jug under the water tap.
  • Step 2. Dispense hot water - Move and hold the lever down to dispense hot water. 
  • Step 3. Stop water - Move the lever back to its original position once you have enough water.
