Taylor 104 Batch Freezer Preventative Maintenance

Stay on schedule with your Taylor 104 batch freezer preventative maintenance and keep it running perfectly. By performing cleaning and maintenance you ensure that your equipment will avoid build-up that can cause larger issues down the line. Below we will go over various essential cleaning and maintenance tasks so you can ensure that the freezer stays chilled and operating at all hours. 

Cleaning Procedure

  • Step 1. Create cleaning mixture - Create a mixture of manufacturer approved cleaning solution and warm water. 
  • Step 2. Pour solution into funnel - Pour the solution into the funnel and allow the solution to flow into the freezing cylinder.
  • Step 3. Put controls to EJECT - Put the control switch into the EJECT position, allowing the machine to agitate for five minutes. 
  • Step 4. Put controls to OFF - Put the control switch into the OFF position.
  • Step 5. Set pail under ejection port - Set or hold a pail under the ejection port and open the draw arm. Drain all the solution from the freezing cylinder. 
  • Step 6. Close draw arm - Close the draw arm.

Brush Cleaning

  • Step 1. Fill sink with cleaning mixture - Fill the sink with a mixture of warm water and cleaning solution.
  • Step 2. Remove seal - Remove the seal from the driveshaft.
  • Step 3. Remove clevis pin - Take out the clevis pin from the stem cap.
  • Step 4. Unscrew stem cap - Unscrew the stem cap from the stem.
  • Step 5. Pull out draw arm - Remove the draw arm from the stem.
  • Step 6. Remove o-rings - Remove the o-ring from the draw plate and the back of the freezer door.
  • Step 7. Remove drip spout - Remove the drip spout.
  • Step 8. Brush clean parts in sink - Take all the removed parts to the sink with the cleaning mixture and brush-clean them. Thoroughly clean off any lubricant or mix film from parts.
  • Step 9. Allow parts to air dry - After cleaning, place parts on a clean surface to air dry. 
  • Step 10. Clean rear shell bearing -  Using a black bristle brush and cleaning solution, brush the rear shell bearing at the back of the freezing cylinder. 
  • Step 11. Wipe exterior - Wipe down the exterior of the freezer.

Maintenance Checks

Always make sure you are doing frequent checks including:

  • Checking the rear shell bearing for wear and tear
  • Check seals and toss/replace any that are worn, torn or loose
  • Lubricate parts according to manufacturer’s best practices
  • Replace damaged scraper blades
  • Check any condensers for dirt or build-up
